THE OFFICIAL EBAY CRAZINESS THREAD

I was watching this one for a week, was considering bidding and was shocked to see it shoot up yesterday. That always astounds me!!! How the heck to people make this mistake? Do they not search other listings to find a better price? There were at least 2 other cheeper ones I think. This is by far the highest price I've seen it go for. Sometimes ebay (people really) is just so unpredictable.

Putting the awful listing aside... $29 for a used tank top?

But it has free shipping. That makes it a bargain.

^^ I've seen two other auctions for this and neither sold for over $500. Yet, people have paid thousands for the blue balloon flexi.

I understand that Jack White / TMR collectors are often throwing down big money to obtain tri-colors and all the other rare TMR stuff on ebay.

What I don't understand is how someone will pay over $4k for a flexi disc which is /1,000, contains one album track and traveled in a helium balloon, while a test press of the ENTIRE album won't sell for over $500.

Novelty is a crazy thing.

The buy it now is crazy for this however they do go for around $200+

This one is extremely rare and usually goes for over $300 when they go up for auction.

And yes, I am one of the stupid Canadians who love this band and shelled out a bundle for these and the rest of the Hip vinyl. I got mine for a little lower than market so I've convinced myself of a win.

My record store gave one of these away during an album listening party. i knew I should have called in that day. would have made more on selling this then i did for those 8 hours

even though the flexi's were /1000, how many people reported finding them? There might be less than 50 actually recovered..

also, does the flexi have it's own catalog number? people who want to collect the entire TMR catalog will want need that more than a test press

^^ that's a good point about the catalogue number. I guess it makes more sense being that a test isn't a necessary part of a collection.

I think we'll be hearing about more and more of these flexis being found for years to come. Pretty cool in that sense.

It's possible that there are as many flexis in circulation as test presses, and the test presses were given away at listening parties, so it's understandable that the flexi would go for more.
