Not sure if anyone is into this, but Ropeadope still has 5 copies of Frank Catalano & Jimmy Chamberlin’s God’s Gonna Cut You Down ep.

All the others they’ve done are pretty tough to find now, so I was surprised to find these still available.

Damn it. I bit the bullet and bought that damn thing. My mono Columbia 6-eye sounds great, so I don't really know why I got this. Pure FOMO. I'd hate to find out that this new pressing even blows the original out of the water. I've never experienced or heard of that happening with old jazz pressings, but who knows.

Today's pull - $18 - pretty damn pleased.

  • Miles Davis - "Sketches of Spain" six-eye first press mono - cover is beat (G), vinyl has marks but plays clean a very good VG.
  • Herbie Hancock "Secrets" - The tail end of my favorite of his funk-jazz albums
  • Cannonball Adderley Sextet - Live at the SF Jazz Workshop - first stereo press VG+/VG+. It's a great record, love the spots where he's introducing songs.
  • Miles Davis "Ghetto..." - Not as exciting as the other pickups. Guess this was the RSD release. Nice copy. No complaints for a few bucks.

I have the red as well.

Another two albums to check out on Northern Spy are:

1. Jeremy Cunningham - The Weather Up There -

2. Steph Richards - Supersense -

Highly recommended!

Zero chances unfortunately. Those have been sold out for a long time.

I am really thinking about getting one.

  • 2 weeks later...

My KOB arrived and wow does it look deluxe. Even the cardboard box it was shipped in came with a built-in handle for some reason. Need to do a side by side listening comparison with the original press, but with the deluxe packaging I'm already feeling glad I plunked down the $$$ to buy it.

Jesus! Twelve lps? I have most Lee Morgan records, but this is one I strangely never bought. I'm expecting the price to be ridiculous.

$350. I've been trying to get the 2xLP at a reasonable price but haven't yet. It's out there and with patience, I will.

Two weeks ago I went to a flea market and pulled a first pressing of Pharoah Sanders "Karma" and Mahavishnu Orchestra's first lp. The sanders is a nice VG+, the sort of pull you dream of when crate digging.
