dreamover
i don't see MORE vinyl happening with this deal, but i guess i could be wrong. but usually when i think of major labels as opposed to indie labels, i think less vinyl for old releases. mmhmm
i will be shocked if this translates to more vinyl. From what I understand, this translates to no vinyl at all from Tooth and Nail. At least for quite a long time.

If he doesn't make them sign over the rights when they sign a contract than I would say he's just doing well, not a millionaire.
dreamover
tooth and nail can no longer release vinyl of old releases. they don't own them. capitol can, but let's be honest, probably won't. tooth & nail is relaunching as an independent label and can release whatever new records they want. not that i really care, but why would this be a good thing for old releases? it probably really sucks for all the artists too... having their old music sold to a major that'll probably just sit on it or hold it for ransom. also, this is the reason broken circles wasn't able to press records he already had in the works. so more vinyl... no. deltadon
daegor
LAME Very occasionally this sort of hand changing works out for the fan (sometimes even the artist, see the circumstances that lead to the NIN - Pretty Hate Machine re-release). But I'm not holding my breath.
