stuffsux00
i understand and agree with a lot of what people are saying , but i've been ripped off before. fortunately, not on this board. despite the one person who took the time to give me feedback, i've put my faith in a few people on here. most seemed, and were, trustworthy. still, when i'm putting money down, it can be a bit nerve wrecking regardless. i wondered if any of this was plausible. thanks for the responses! GradedOnACurve
i just realized i have no positive feedback on this new forum, yet i had tons of trades and sales in the past forum. i wonder if anyone would trust me? You as well as other people who waste time on here (myself included) are always around and because of that I think would garner some more trust than people who aren't here as much. jerseydave77
This is going into the Sales Thread today (with better formatting): Vinyl Collective Best Practices Policy for Dealing withIdentified and Confirmed Scammers One of the worst things to happen to an online communitylike ours is to have someone betray the trust of the other members byintentionally defrauding a buyer/seller/trader. We are setting a policy that wehope will protect the Vinyl Collective Community to the best extent possibleand set a precedent that Scammers will not be tolerated. First, what qualifies as an Offense worthy ofBanning: YouSell an item and never deliver it. Further, you let your communication lapse tothe point no other conclusion can be reached except that you have intentionallydefrauded another Member. Youbuy an item and then later you file a PayPal claim to get your money back eventhough you received the item. It is unacceptable to use PayPal policy todefraud a VC Member. YouTrade for an item but don’t live up to your end of the deal by delivering theitem. YouSell or Trade for an item and what you send is either intentionally the wrongitem or so grossly damaged that it can only be interpreted that you wereattempting to rip-off the other party. All of the above instances have occurred. In the past wehave not IP Blocked identified scammers and many have come back with new usernames to prey on the good nature of our community. This will now stop. The issue that is the trickiest is when to ban and block auser. We want our members to have every opportunity to resolve these mattersand keep lines of communication open. Now, knowing that action will be taken wehave a very simple suggestion: Going forward, beforeyou agree to a final deal, please exchange email addresses and confirm theywork. Once a member is IP Blocked this will be your only means of communicationwith them if you still retain hopes of connecting with them. We will not IP Block an identified Scammer instantly, wewill leave a 30 day window open for things to be resolved via VC. After thisconsiderable amount of time it would be negligent for us to allow someoneconfirmed as a scammer to have the opportunity to prey on another user. Course of Action: If you have been ripped off, report it to a Mod. While WE CANNOT HELP IN ANY WAY TO GET BACK PROPERTY OR MONEY, we ask you to suggest a course of action. Mod will contact and allow the identified user a chance to respond and set things right. If after 30 days from initial complaint it is confirmed this was a scam we will now IP Block the User so they cannot open a new account. Each case and the appropriate action will be left to the discretion of the Mod Team and can be assessed independently. Finally, take note that from here on out, ripping offanother member will come down with Zero Tolerance. Regardless if you have 10posts or 10,000 – if you take advantage of the Trust of this Community and donot set things right then you will be removed. /jerseydave
jerseydave77
We have more User Mods now to monitor the bullshit and I think we've seen it getting taken on. This is a positive. There will be scammers but they won't be around here for long.
xfedupx
Dave - serious question, will this count towards labels that post here as well? There's been quite a few times over the years that I've preordered something, record was never made, never got money back blah blah blah. I haven't seen it happen recently, but just in case it does, I was wondering... Also, I love that plan
jerseydave77
If a Label takes money and never produces a record but wants to continue to promote themselves then that is a discussion to be had. Beyond RJ/Virgil I haven't seen that issue on here. This isn't exactly an organic policy but it can be improved upon. We aren't opening it to discussion per se but suggestions will be considered and if we feel it is in fact an improvement then it can be implemented. We just want it known upfront that there will now be zero tolerance on scammers. There is more monitoring going on and it makes something like this easier to handle.
