RSD 2013: Tell your stories and share what you bought here!

Also,

The downtown record store I went to second had a ton of walk by traffic...I heard several times "I've never seen a line at Cheapies before". There were lots of people asking what the deal was, which invariably led to more questions....the guy behind me just started saying the line was for Justin Bieber tickets.

The best comment though, was from someone who walked by and said "That's a fucking line!" and walked off.

Were the pressing runs smaller overall this year or is RSD just getting WAY bigger?

I ask because two of the stores I went to had like... 7 or 8 records left total by 2:00pm. Mostly Bon Jovi and Aerosmith. And yet, they both have staaaaaacks of stuff from previous RSDs mixed into their racks. This is my first time actually going out specifically for/on RSD, so I wasn't sure what to expect.

wanted this but dat price, and dat logic.

i've tried syncing records together before and they inevitably fall out of sync.

i don't see this working in vinyl form.

still wanted it because i'm a lips freak, but would have been happier with a 1 disc mixdown of all the tracks, like the bootleg was.

I dont think I saw anyone buy this. Cant believe they made almost 7k of them. That is a total fail

I plane on picking this up at clearance for about 20 bucks when people are begging to get them off the shelves

Damn you people who got White Stripes for $23. Fingerprints marked up the record to $35. Talk about opportunistic.

Also Fingerprints was the site of the biggest whiner on RSD. Guy is 2nd in line at Fingerprints. Finds out that the only DMB box set is being silent auctioned off for charity by the store instead of being sold. Proceeds to argue with owner on it being unfair. WAH WAH. Starts questioning the charity and why the silent auction is not being advertised on facebook. Starts coming up with schemes like "Everything I buy here at the store I will put up on ebay with the tag 'fingerprints.' I should even change my ebay handle to 'fingerprints music.'" He proceeds to say dumb stuff like "Maybe I should tell the owner that I will spend $100 at his store and then anything I get with the $100 he can just auction off and I can get the DMB set instead."

I know the guy posts here, so here's my message to him: Stop being a whining baby. You're a grown man. Fingerprints doesn't owe you anything. Ultimately, waiting in line for an item is a gamble at the end of the day. It's really sad to see grown men bitch like a 2 yr old over some lame records. "HEY GIVE ME THE DMB BOX SET! I'm THEIR BIGGEST FAN. I'VE BEEN TO 77 SHOWS!"

I'm surprised they let him still buy stuff if he was outright talking bout flipping it on eBay, they are usually pretty good about denying flippers.

And yeah their prices are usually a little high

A lot of stores in Canada had hardly anything shipped to them. My two local shops had nothing I wanted and it was slim pickings.

My friend was able to grab me ATDI, and it was $40 Canadian. Through the manic of the boards Chris (Victimofadriveby) and German (avenged corpse) were able to grab me a the Cave In LP.

I'm still looking for the JEW 7" and Dazed and Confused ST if anyone grabbed an extra.

Showed up 20 minutes before open at Bearded Lady Records in Flint, MI.... was 16th in line. They opened a few minutes early and staggered the entry. I managed to grab The Cure - Kiss Me³. By the time I got in there were only like 10-20 LPs left and about a dozen 7"s. As I was checking out I noticed a copy of t/t/t but didn't have the sense to grab it. Oh well.

I was 15th in line at Vacation Vinyl and I got there at 8 AM, two hours before it opened.  At around 9:15, they gave us slips of paper and had us write down the 5-6 records we really wanted.  Then the employees took like 10 sheets at a time and boxed what they had in stock for us so when I went inside my choices were bagged and waiting for me.  But they also left all the other RSD out on the floor that hadn't been claimed and they had a ton of stuff and it was awesome and handled really well.  I'll be heading there again in 2014.  In line at 8 AM and out by 10:30 with the stuff I wanted, not bad.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, I've drank too much beer whilst listening to records to keep up, but I saw those Aerosmith records today.  They looked like dog shit.  Single pocket sleeve, possible insert.  I could go to a record show and get those albums for $5 or less each.  Lame.  I really wanted to buy Toys In The Attic if it was packaged in a nice gatefold.  Amazing album.  But no.  Money grabbers.
