Ent
J&R music in manhattan was giving these out in giftbags if you bought any rsd stuff. couldnt really find any pressing info on them besides that theyre promos from when the album came out. anyway, thought it was kind of a cool surprise considering some of the other freebies out there. D: THOSE ARE SICK!!!
scottheisel
Did anyone pick up the Gaslight super-deluxe CD? It looked nice, but it was $25, and I've already bought the album twice (the original deluxe CD with the bonus tracks and the vinyl, too), so I passed. ryeguy
Long time lurker here so I figured I'd chime in with my RSD finds. I lined up at Sunrise Records in Ktichener at about 8am and they opened at 830. I managed to grab Elephant, ATDI and Mad Season. There was a pretty decent turn out and everyone was really polite, but the only issue I had was they had their RSD merch on one small table right at the front of the store so everyone was kind of crowding around it. The good thing was that if you called out that you were looking for something in particular it would be passed back to you. I really wanted to grab the A Place to Bury Strangers release but someone grabbed the last copy before I had a chance to. I hit up Encore Records downtown later on in the day and was able to grab Opeth's Morningrise on split silver and white vinyl. It was listed on their website as a UK import so it was definitely a nice find.
knifeparty
Oddly enough, I got all of my stuff for myself online through Strictly Discs, Dine Alone Records, and a person on here. However, I went to a few stores to help out a few friends on the board and one of my best friends. While at one of the stores I went to, I hooked someone up with the last copy of one of the things I was going to buy for myself but didn't really want that badly so I figured I would pay it forward. So anyways, it feels weird to have gone to brick and morter stores a couple of times all for releases that I didn't pick up myself but it felt good to hook up other people for cost and help them get what they wanted. I guess the moral of the story is to pay it forward sometimes and it can help make you feel way better about yourself. Sorry for getting a little sappy, lol. thenewflesh_
Botch was the only thing I didn't get on my list. Is the Cave In pressing info anywhere? Seems like there a few variants out there.
henster311
so i went back to the Movie Trading Company today...just to see what they had left over. to my surprise i saw that NFG (orange yellow swirl) was there. I didn't see it there yesterday at all...someone must've put it back also picked up the Lee "Scratch" Perry 3x10" box set...which has anyone picked up? ive read its pressed on, green, red and gold. but the only that looks like its color is the red one. the "green" looks almost like a grey marble, and the "gold" is almost a light purple marble. eh whatever. I have a fellow VC'er hooking me up with Girl In A Coma. I would have still liked to get Earth Crisis and the Street Dogs 7"...other than that im pretty happy with my findings. Ent
I'm also a long time lurker, but joined yesterday to try to pick a few releases up. Was able to get two things I wanted online though Still haven't gotten the South Park 7" yet though
knifeparty
Did you receive a confirmation from Strictly Discs? I still have a few items showing a status of "In-Store/Fulfilled" I have not, 2 of my 3 items say that though. I figured I would wait until Tuesday or so and if I hadn't heard anything further would then call them.

burnthealbum
Got up early on a 12 hr work day to drive 40 min to some shops. First stop grabbed Mad Season, Cypress Hill, Tame Impala, and Cake. Second stop nothing. Then rushed to the small store in my town before work and they had ATDI for $40 but I cant complain. Only missed out on Theyre Their There and South Park. nothingnatural
Pretty much was able to pick up all that I wanted to this year. My "haul": Whirr - Part Time Punks 7" Seven Sisters of Sleep/Ilsa - split 7" Husker Du - Amusement 2x7" Chelsea Wolfe & King Dude - Sing Songs Together 7" Elliott Smith - Alternate Versions from Either/Or 7" Pink Floyd - See Emily Play 7" Deftones - Live Vol 1 EP Ilsa - The Maggots are Hungry LP Botch - American Nervoso 2LP (Army Green) Cave In - UYHS 2LP (Clear orange w/black streaks) Porno for Pyros - s/t LP Giant Henry - Big Baby LP Codeine - What About the Lonely (Sticker states this would be on black vinyl but I got a red version) Mad Season - Above 2LP (Only item I couldn't find in store. Ordered from 1234 Go so I'm pretty sure it'll come through) Kill Rock Stars - Compilations 3xCS Only other thing I would have liked to grab was the South Park 7" but it's not high priority. Considered buying the new Wire album but then came to my senses that it's a modern Wire album and probably pretty bad.

pushbacktosquare
For anyone in Los Angeles looking for Bayside, looks like Soundcheck Hollywood still has some. Give them a call before you go in though. They have it for 17.
sethdavid
I went to Darkside Records in Poughkeepsie, NY. Opened at 9 and I got there at 8:30 which I thought would be good enough, but nope. Waited two hours to get in the store, hoping to pick up Relationship of Command and Hybrid Theory... I watched the last copy of Relationship of Command get sold to the person in front of me...that sucked. The only RSD release I was able to get (for myself) was Bayside: Live at the Bayside Social Club. Picked up Nick Drake for a friend. While I was there I also bought Tenacious D's first album and the new Justin Timberlake album. Since it was RSD I later stopped by the record stores in my town (New Paltz), grabbed Foals - Holy Fire for a friend. Got Elliott Smith - S/T and Black Sabbath - Paranoid for myself. Ended up getting Hybrid Theory for $45 online, still on the search for a copy of Relationship of Command that's under $50.
Aych
I'm probably going to go back to Wuxtry tomorrow after I get off work, and if they still have something that I know someone here is still looking for, I'll pick it up and make another post or a thread in the Buy/Sell forum. Nice to see that most people got what they wanted this time around.

JimmyBOD
Nothing. I got nothing. For the first time in the history of RSD, I didn't leave the house. Not only did I not buy anything, I have absolutely no idea what was released. Instead of battling the ever-growing hipster crowd for limited pressings of records I'll never listen to, I spent some serious cash on audio gear that will bring years of listening pleasure instead. Very, very satisfied. Best RSD ever.

warhenrecords
Got in line at 7:45AM and was about 15 people deep. Was chilly. Wish I hadn't worn shorts! Lots of familiar faces in line though, which was great. Saw some folks I hadn't seen in a while, so it was good to catch up, even if we all were a little blurry that early in the morning! Would've killed someone for a bacon/egg/cheese biscuit like 30mins into the wait. Ended up doing pretty well. Got almost everything. Built To Spill Phish Marco Benevento Titus Andronicus Calexico Mike Cooley 7" Mike Watt 7" Hold Steady 7" Neal Casal 7" Sons of Bill 7" Got the White Stripes for a friend. Still looking for Ty Rex, Thee Oh Sees and a Justin Townes Earle. Wouldn't mind a Blitzen Trapper or Phosphorescent either!
