A&I and This Addiction weren't bad but sounded like a half-assed rehash of old material at times; whereas, this sounds different. occasionally very similar to Sekrets, but i can still tell it is trio. looking forward to the album. i like all of their material, including Crimson. i get that Crimson was overproduced, but i enjoyed the inclusion of synths and additional guitars. also, "Settle For Satin" is one of my favorite songs. minor incident Posted February 1, 2013 Share Posted February 1, 2013 I enjoyed Crimson a lot, but was pretty down on Agony and Irony. I don't think I really like a single song past the opening track. But then I really loved This Addiction. I thought it was dramatically better in every way. Probably their best album in years. At least better than the prior two. searos Posted February 1, 2013 Share Posted February 1, 2013 Honestly I don't expect this band to change my perspective of music all together or to write another MICF which "is" their most brilliant album. I find merit in just about any album they release just cause I like new music. It may sound similar but honestly plenty of revered bands on sites like these hardly change their sound yet each album is loved. I just enjoy new music and every album has a chance to have that one stand out track that keeps me going but overall I am ready for new Alkaline Trio. It will be enjoyable and fun to listen to for a while until I get bored and wanna listen to other stuff but I will likely come back to it. turnstiles Posted February 2, 2013 Share Posted February 2, 2013 I think this song is Blah, and I hated 'demos' but loved Dan's side project. I really really hope the song 'Drive' is on this album. It's a song I heard Dan play in 2006 that hasn't had a proper release yet. Matt is a great guy but the sekrets was just eh, off putting especially after that performance at Metro.
