biodigitaljazz
Considering this to be my next upgrade. Gonna rock the light option too since it's cheap.
Waters
I love the acrylic platter on my Xpression III. I can't remember ever having static when taking a record off. This was the biggest improvement for me- eliminated virtually all pops- plus no more felt mat sticking to every album
antoniofhowe
I like the look and it's great not having to deal with the felt mat, but I can't say I experienced a sound improvement like some claim. Static is definitely less but not non-existent. It also introduced a new problem in that using the anti-static brush on some LP's that aren't 100% flat cause the record to stop rotating while the platter continues to rotate... it makes me cringe to think there could be something grinding into the underside of the record when that happens. For the record (no pun intended) it happens when just holding the brush on the vinyl (not adding pressure).
piky0032
Ive had the same issue lately with some records slipping......just cleaned it off the table and that seemed to sort it out.......need to buy myself a proper cleaner....... Just put the slipmat back on to clean the record real quick? piky0032
Seafinch
Just snagged one for $113. TurntableLab has 12% off right now. Says it doesn't work on Pro-Ject items, but it actually does (not sure if they expect the honor system).
antoniofhowe
Just put the slipmat back on to clean the record real quick? I could, but then I'd have to have the slip mat handy all the time and that doesn't work for me...besides, I bought the platter so I could get rid of the mat. Seafinch
Acryl-It arrived today. I think this is a must have for anyone in a dry climate where static tends to be an issue. It made a pretty noticeable difference. Good upgrade.
faceghost
Sorry to bump an old thread but does anyone happen to know the cheapest place to get this right now, perhaps a discount code available somewhere?

biodigitaljazz
That looks fucking beautiful. Exactly what I think of when I imagine doing this to my setup. Platter alone is worth the $100 if you can make it look like this it seems, except for the few claims of sound quality loss! Anyone have anymore? Loss from the platter? or from stringing it up with stupid christmas lights? kidamnesiac and vinyl addict

Actually, sound quality and static dispersal were the reasons I bought the platter. I actually had to go completely flat from a more pronounced bass setting on my EQ. So the platter did make a big difference in my set up.

Sound quality loss when using an acrylic platter will be from doing something wrong like using a mat with it, that or some other example of a LUI error
Darren W
Does anyone know if the Acryl It platter fits on a Pro-Ject 1.2? Cheers
vinyl addict
I've read conflicting reviews. Some give the acrylic high praises, other say it deadens the sound.
vinyl addict
Not a fan of those lights either. They look tacky to me. I have a feeling some are using the acrylic just so they can light it up with LEDs, and don't really care about the end results as far as sound goes. Some people buy a sports car to drive around in a big city. *shrugs* Had my platter for 3-4 years now? Have never regretted it, awesome but not a necessary upgrade if you can't afford it. I just grabbed the Speedbox and I'm still in the habit of going to the manual switch... Edited April 12, 2017 by Canuckle
vinyl addict
I run a Speedbox also and love it.
