Nordic Giants have annouced their debut album. I saw them support God Is An Astronaut and they are one of the best live acts I've seen in nearly 25 years of live music. There's a new song to stream here and many more on their website:

They are playing here in May two days before my 40th birthday and I already cannot wait. I am confident that they will match the gig I went to half a lifetime ago the day before my 20th birthday. Same city, different venue; Fugazi.

Also, someone posted an Indigogo here today for a band called Bright Like The Sun. I rather like their stuff:

Magdalene

dirty post-rock. slight vocals are subtle but effective.

this was a good find, Charlie - harder instrumental rock - can't go to sleep listening to it.

Fluttery has been promoting Maiak release (A VeryPleasant Way To Die) - and I was listening to it right before Magdalene. Great back to back action. Kind of relieved no vinyl o.O

Tangled Thoughts Of Leaving has a new one on the launch pad:  Yield To Despair

LIstened to the preview track, The Albanian Sleepover Part One and just one pass, I'm ready to hear more

Today I see that they have pressed this /150 Bone and /150 Black 180gm for 40 AUD and 35 AUD respectively, and I don't think that's PPD from the land down under.

My work filter blocks bandcamp so hope this works:

Came home to two packages on my porch this afternoon: Hiss Tracts - Shortwave Nights and Not to Reason Why - Would You Hug Fire? The latter I actually had very low hopes of receiving, because I bought it off of their [dormant] Bandcamp page for $15, which, for a 2xLP, seemed cheap. One of the all-time great post-rock albums. Everybody should pick it up who doesn't have it already.

I thoroughly love The Book Of Hours but never did get around to WYHF. Pretty solid? I agree that you can't beat that price.

Pretty much exactly what you would expect from a LP preceding that (admittedly incredible) EP. The climaxes aren't quite as huge on WYHF, and the piano is a bit more prevalent, but neither of those detract from a really enjoyable listen. Knowing you get into ambient, Derek, I think you'd find a lot to love. Especially since there's a pronounced Deadhorse vibe that comes from a few of the tracks.

"To be blunt, there are 5 of these, and you will very likely never see another for sale, and this sale may be brief before it gets tucked into my or someone else's collection, so I suggest not hesitating or lowballing.

I truly bought this with the intentions of never letting it out of my collection. Listed is this ultra rare test press of If These Trees Could Talk - Above The Earth, Below The Sky. This copy is limited to 5 worldwide and this copy is numbered 5/5. The record itself is in NM condition and has never been played. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a classic record. Payment is needed within 72 hours of purchase. No refunds. International shipping available on request."
