adamlikesmusic
Are the duplicate tapes different "presses"? Or are they nothing more than duplicates?
keevhren
some are different from one another... like there are 3 different versions of the suffer tape i've found... others are just tapes i couldnt pass up (like... $1 a piece type of deals, so figured why the hell not you know?) mattstrike
My gawd. I can't resist posting on this thread. Kinda funny that IKEA really nailed the record collector market with that damn shelf! When I worked at the South Philly IKEA I must have recommended that to at least 100 people. I kept telling the art department to put one on display with 12" covers in it and that I'd even supply the covers... did they do it? Of course not. Fuckers. mattstrike
awesome, thanks a ton. You may have already bought it or figured this out - but the deal with IKEA A/V furniture is how much weight it can hold. Obviously you need to know how large a screen can fit, but I've heard of folks breaking the shelf cos it was over the weight limit. IKEA is shit. (but affordable!) Fuckers. ha, my local Ikea in town has the small 2x4 Expedit on display with empty generic dj sleeves in the compartments and on top of the shelf two turntables and a mixing desk. Vinyl collectors probably get the right idea from this
mattstrike
So, like 99% of the folks here, shit's in an Expedit (7" boxed up and appx 1200 LPs in my storage space for security - I don't play those, just collected): CD's: By the way - I have a lot of used record sleeve covers, ranging between 2 mil and 5 mil. I don't need 'em, so if someone here does PM me. Taken.

I was at that IKEA a little while back and they had like two LP jackets sort of randomly placed in one of their Expedits... I think one was an Eddie Money jacket and one was a Lionel Richie album... mattstrike
The acrylic is working as a sound/vibration isolator. Had it custom cut and polished at a place that does bullet proof "glass" for all the packaged goods stores here in N. Philly! 3/4" acrylic (which is close to neutral in transmission) + 8 moongel drum head damper pads underneath it to suspend it above the 'table shelf. The moongel pads are made out of sorbothane, which is the same shit that is marketed for 20x the price as an "audiophile" isolation product. Works very well. I had one made for each component; isolation is important for more than just turntables and CD transports. ------- I am going back to that IKEA to burn it to the ground! scooterist136
One of the things I did when I got my expedit was nail a backing board to it. I also made sure it was put together properly. The backing board helps hold the whole thing together as one unit. I have over 1000 records and 500 cds in mine and it's super sturdy.
