daniel
Lately I've been super stressed out and overwhelmed by a lot of things and I often find myself wishing I had something other than heavy/chaotic music to listen to. I've been listening to a lot of Alcest the past few days and I'm super into it. I'm looking for other similarly soothing and sort of ethereal groups to listen to when I really need to clear my head. Not too into instrumental stuff… I don't have a short attention span but I just love vocals if that makes any sense. Any recs would be much appreciated. radiatorhums
Check out Jesu. Everything from Self Titled to Conqueror is really good. It's a mix of shoegaze, drone and doom with a good dash of melon collie. Easily one of my favorite artists. http://jesu.bandcamp.com/ - Their catalogue is fairly good sized and not everything is on there, but it would be a good launching point. Pyramids might be something you'd enjoy as well. They have a good mixture of shoegaze, black metal and ambient. http://pyramids-hhr.bandcamp.com/ - I'd start with Self Titled. Here's a shameless plug for my label: Check out Miserable and Grey Zine Also though, Galaxie 500, Codeine, and Slowdive are some good staters too. GHOSTDRONES
Others to check out, Nadja (see http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/99046-po-nadja-queller-most-accessible-drone-gaze/ for ideas on where to start), My Bloody Valentine, Medicine, Have A Nice Life, some of The Jesus & Mary Chain and Whirr, might suit you as well. Iroha and fragment. is very similar to Jesu as well if you do like that.

radiatorhums
Iroha and fragment. is very similar to Jesu as well if you do like that. I'll have to check those two out, always looking for something in that vein. 40 Watt Sun is another group that has a similar sound to Jesu, their only album is killer.
