seanmegamitensei
my friend had been getting into vinyl so him and i went to a flea market so he could do some digging; and i ended up grabbing brian eno's "music for airports," "music for films" along with black flag's "slip it in" and "my war". Slip It In is such a kickass album (except for "Rat's Eyes" - what the fuck is up with that song?). That and Family Man are Black Flag's best in my opinion. spoon
Mount Eerie - Wind's Poem Loved the album / artwork and then had my entire world turned upside down when I opened it up and discovered there was such a thing as clear vinyl.

RESCHAR
The Mars Volta - Tremulant - yellow marble pressing. This was when I was maybe 16? I'm 23 now and only seriously started collecting last year. I had amassed a 500 strong CD collection and thought it was about time to take the plunge! I spent a decent amount on a Rega RP3 and am in the process of steadily upgrading my hi-fi system. I've never looked back since making the switch. Don't honestly know why it took me so long either! kamika215
Huey Lewis and The News "Sports" I think that was my first $1 bin purchase. First ever, was Marvin Gaye "Let's Get It On." My high school girlfriend broke up with me shortly after.

I don't know what it is about that album, but it really speaks to me (no pun intended). I don't mean to discount Rollins' and Black Flag's other work, since it's all great, but if I had to pick two I'd pick those two.

beans
Descendents- Everything Sucks. I worked at a record store when it first came out in 1996 and bought the album on vinyl to display on my wall since I loved it so much. Long story short, I couldn't stand just looking at it and wanted to hear it on vinyl, thus leading to my first turntable purchase.
caninesapien
MC5 - Back in the USA and The Cure - Boys Don't Cry. Got them both at the same time from a small shop that's closed now, in about 2001 or so.

anthemforadoomed
I think my first was the Mischief Brew/ Andrew Jackson Jihad split. Or it might have been finding original pressings of GI by the Germs and Worlds Apart by the Subhumans in a record store.. I don't remember. itsaleaf
Bad Books - II Picked it up at a show a year ago because i loved the art in the collectors book. That kind of led to me buying my first setup and the piles of records since. did you get the signed "poster" square thing too? It's a really good album mine were The first Cage the Elephant album and Oracular Spectacular MGMT. Since then, I've got about 60 more, so I'm going slow but have great stuff
Ratsky9
I impulse bought the 2nd press Deja Entendu because Brand New was my favorite band. Never imagined how sought after that record would be. I didn't actively start collecting records until a few years later when I again impulse bought my 2nd record, The Devil and God (Blue/Black swirl) from Academy Fight Song. FangsAnalSatan
For me it was Mob Rules by Black Sabbath. That was a while before I seriously got into record collecting, I only collected CDs at that point.
