aju2streets
I posted a quick review and pictures of the packaging up on my blog if anyone's interested. It's a nice heavyweight sleeve and clean sounding record. Although its drag city so still no dl code https://summerspins.wordpress.com/2017/01/26/ty-segall-ty-segall-vinyl-album-review/ Edited May 11, 2017 by aju2streets
hobbesthecat
Is the drag city sleeve different from other retailers?

All of Ty's latest albums have had a really thick sleeve. Glad to hear the new one is similar. Edited January 27, 2017 by jeromium

Moglog
Spinning this now, sounds great and packaging is really sturdy. And yeah, Ty is probably my favorite artist that I listen to the least amount due to the no download codes or streaming options.
youspinmeround
So what does everyone think of what albini did with this?
timsimmons
LP has an Albini sound. I love that. But ultimatly, I don't think it really adds any new dimension to the album. it just sounds like it was recorded by someone else. It still sounds like a Ty album. obliriovrons
I mean, from what I've read from other artists, it sounds like he won't really add any new dimension to any album. He just hits record and dicks around on his phone.
hobbesthecat
per WTF w/ Maron, Steve doesn't add much if anything because he doesn't want to be the one driving what the sound of the band s/b jeromium
jeromium
If I didn't know he recorded it, I wouldn't be able to tell. Nor would I assume it was produced by anyone other than Ty. Velocity of Sound
timsimmons
Thats true that Albini just hits record, but his albums do have this consistent sound, especially in the bass and drums.
youspinmeround
To me this doesn't have that raw albini sound It says it was recorded by him but who mastered and mixed it?

Albini doesn't put a creative stamp on anything. He's not a "producer" in that sense. He's an engineer. He puts a sonic stamp on it.
timsimmons
I know. Then the sonic stamp is evenly split between Electical Audios sound (which seems to favor bass and drums) and Ty's sound. That's what I was getting at.

numanoid
I missed it too, but the site says that this will also be available in stores. Is that a normal black pressing or part of the initial 1000?
