  1. Mine arrived today. Looks great with the splash. But yeah, terrible customer service/communication on p&p's part. I get tthat they are a small label so I didn't email them and it did eventually arrive, but yikes. Next time p&p, email us bettr updates, send us some demos or bonus tracks as mp3. Send a sticker o a "thanks for the patience and support" letter. Something... just to show you give a fuck.

Also, usps kicked mine around too. Bent sleeve, but the record is fine.

  2. few things... what's blood meridian? is this a different recording of let the train whistle blow than was on the johnny cash tribute? (like ben's alternate version of delia's gone)

and speaking of ben nichols, while i am really stoked to hear another cover of kiss the bottle, i still only expect it to be my third favorite version under lucero and of course the original. time will tell though.

  3. dont think i would... look at the money yr gonna make off them compared to what you spent. maybe it'll make you a few bucks, but to spend years collecting and pay off a couple months worth of bills and ultimately be left with nothing is a pretty depressing idea.

i don't like the current level of consumerism involved in vinyl collecting right now, but loving music and art should never go out of style.

i'm actually considering selling about 1500 cds on half.com, after realizing that i havent listened to the format in about 3 years and im even having trouble deciding what i can and cant part with at a personal level.

  4. extreme noise is one of the best things about this city. while yes they tend to play a lot of crust in the store, but the dudes working are always super into it and conversing on all the smallest details and i dig that.

i used to work at a some goody and my experience was more akin too sharkticon's. so really, let the guys (who are volunteers by the way) at extreme noise have their fun while they're working.

  5. at least dear landlord finally picked that torch back up. don't get me wrong, i love off with their heads, dillinger four, banner pilot, etc. but rivethead always struck the most personal chord with me.

see and to me it was always st paul = metal (station 4, fireball espresso cafe)

and minneapolis had the punk stuff (foxfire then triple rock, extreme noise)

i know thats not definitive by any stretch, but just the feeling i always got.

My small but complete Cadillac Blindside collection:

    - Read The Book, Seen The Movie 12"

    - Rumors, Scandals And Burning Bridges 7" (Took forever to find it!)

    - Split with Amp176 7" /300 (The 6/66 that's written on the cover is probably just some previous owner being funny....)

    - Read The Book, Seen The Movie (CD)

    - The Allegory Of Death And Fame EP (CD)

    - These Liquid Lungs (CD) (Someone press this on vinyl already!)

    - These Liquid Lungs: A Retrospective (CD) (The very generous Trenton Raygor gave this to me as a gift when I was invited to his house for a BBQ. That guy rules.

    FUCK. ING. YES!

this is amazing. what's the tracklisting on the allegory of death and fame ep? and what are the songs on the 7"s? any way you could rip these things and post them in this thread:

    http://vinylcollective.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6631

either way, +1 for an awesome collection of a criminally underrated band.

about as good a cadillac blindside collection as you can get. all you need is the bubblecore demo cassette i think.

but what is that liquid lungs retrospective cd? is it different than the original pressing (aside from the art of course)? and yes, vinyl treatment PLEASE. i think the cardinal sin stuff should be on vinyl too actually.

  7. Rivethead - City Sound Number Five

    Fuck Yeahs - No Farts

Song of Zarathustra - Bote Des Zorns

Lawrence Arms - Buttsweat and Tears

    Tuesday - Early Summer

Traitors - Bring Me The Head of Matt Skiba

apparently i only like bands from mpls and chicago... although, the recent flatliners and paint it black eps were also pretty great, i just havent listened to either quite enough to solidify them in the lineup.

  8. i had the same thing happen with a couple murder city devils records i won from a guy in the czech republic... i figured shipping would take a while, but by the time i tried to do something about it, it was too late and ebay couldnt even help me get a refund.

dude said he shipped them, but it's been 14 months at this point... of course i was stupid enough to not get insurance, so i was kinda asking for it.

  9. i love the elf. hilarious, and makes the slipmat idea even better.

as for the logo itself, i know you really want it to be the O in the text, but it's so big it feels like a square peg. it makes the text look really unfocused. i'd probably move the logo to the left of the text and actually use typed Os. then on releases you could always save space by turning "records records records..." into "youth conspiracy records" circling.

it's a small cosmetic thing that i think would make a world of difference. otherwise i think it's great. curious to see what you put out into the world.

  10. so i finally got that spring cleaning sale after it had been held up on the austin lucas/takers 7".

anyway, the copyrights record is really cool, i think the druglords of the avenues is gonna grow on me, but the see you next tuesday, banner, and 36 crazyfists stuff may find creative ends. i get that people dig that stuff and that it's really technically intricate and all that, but man, does nothing for me...

all in all, worth the $25 gamble though.
