  1. Is there a reason why some Paramore LPs go for so much money?  Are there really that many people looking to buy and play a Paramore album or is more because of their growth and fame?  No trolling - honest question.  I bought a few records a while back and could not believe how much they go for now.

  2. This is just a random rage venting and who knows, maybe I'm wrong.

I'm going through my records and just looking at them for the first time in a while and it brings me back to some random rage I get when I buy certain records, more importantly when I buy multiple variants of the same at one time.

I remember when the first pressing of Brand New's The Devil and God...came out and I was quick to pick up a copy of each.  Sure enough they got sent to me and non of them were labeled which color.  I guess I could have just made a small slit but instead I basically started opening one after the other until the last one was left.  It felt kind of like Russian roulette as I was sitting there hoping the last one would be the most limited pressing, which it was not.

    Anyone else have similar beef?

  3. Technically speaking transparent means clear and translucent means you can see through it somewhat (talking dictionary definitions here)... when it comes to vinyl variants I would say that transparent would more aptly describe what I refer to as 'ultraclear' and transluscent would be the standard clear.

When it somes to coloured vinyl I usually say trans blue, trans red. I think these should technically be considered transluscent colours since the colouring will at least somewhat hinder the ability to see through it completely, it's not window-clear like the ultraclear vinyl... but I think for the most part labels refer to clear colour variant as 'transparent blue, red, green, etc.' so yeah I usually just abbreviate colours as trans. -whatever

hope that helps 'clear' up the terminology.

oh yeah and then there are colours like clear dark purples that look almost black until they are held up to the light... those should definitely be referred to as translucent by definition of the word and not transparent.

yeah that helps alot.  I'm kinda ocd about certain things...and since starting to list my collection, I've found that using both "clear" and "transparent" is driving me mad since I've seen both words used to describe the same record.

  4. Yes, the paper in the center is the label.

All the records in the picture I posted are 1st pressings, including yours. The colored one is considered the orange marble variant, which is out of 1000. The black one is obviously the black variant and is out of 1000 also. As was mentioned earlier, there were both black and orange center labels, and it is assumed that there were 500 of each.

    Hope that answers your question.

    Awesome.  THanks!

  5. This may have been posted already but I could not see it.

For those of us who are OCD, is there any way to change the order of your collection, so that I could arrange my collection by release date.  All I can think of is deleting it and just adding them in the way I want from scratch.

  6. Hey guys.

Casual collector whose just beginning to go back and look at all my records and re-chronalize them.  Some of my first purcahses when I started collecting were of Alkaline Trio.  At the time I purcahsed a few variants of their 1999 release "Maybe Ill Catch Fire".  I'm trying to figure out how many were released of each variant.

Discogs says 1000 were printed on both black and orange.

I have those but also have one that is black, with an orange center.  Anyone know if this was a later pressing or part of one of the mentioned above?

    Thanks.
