  1. Hey,

In case this interests anyone on the board, there are only about 10 copies left of Chris Gethard's debut comedy album, My Comedy Album and then that's it for vinyl (its a one time pressing of 500).  You can get one of those last copies here before they are gone: http://dongiovannirecords.com/product/115-my-comedy-album

We also are pressing some colored vinyl for Screaming Females for the first time, starting with their first record.  There are 300 copies on white and 500 on clear blue: http://dongiovannirecords.com/product/39-baby-teeth

Finally, up for pre-order but not limited is the new Brick Mower record: http://dongiovannirecords.com/product/117-teenage-graceland

    Thanks!

  2. is it really that hard for people to understand why some some people are frustrated at their sub-culture being commodified? even if its by a company who pays on time and helps people out. obviously its not a black and white situation, but i understand the "how dare you say anything about about hot topic!" about as much as i understand the "death to all hot topic employees."

wake up man, punk rock's "image" was more or less started by a clothing store to begin with, it was started as a commodity.... lets not romanticize a false history.

im really sorry you feel that way. i also wasnt talking about punks "image"

  4. consider doing a one-sided 12"

a long (anything over 10 minutes, really) 7" is prone to:

    -surface noise

    -skating

-increased susceptibility to wow/more pronounced warble when and if the record warps

you could be doing a one-sided 12", which at 45, could easily hold 12+ minutes, and could hold almost twice that at 33. you'd only have to pay half the normal cutting/plating costs. the per record pressing price will be higher, but the amount saved on lacquers and stampers should offset that for any run 500 or less. for runs over that many, you just have the increased fidelity of a 12", but i'd say it's well worth it.

first of all, you arent taking into account all the other costs associated with a 12" vs. a 7". everything is a lot more expensive, the jackets, shipping, etc.

next, the fidelity issue is only going to matter with certain kinds of music where that kind of thing actually matters.

the solution is for the band to cut a song or two. not to press it on a stupid one sided 12"

On October 4th Don Giovanni Records is going to reissue the first two Screaming Females LPs which have been out of print for quite a while at this point and for the most part were only available from the band at their early shows.

Pre-orders are up now and come with a bonus 7" limited only to those who pre-order either record or both. The 7" is a live version of Fun from TV on one side, and Dinosaurs from Baby Teeth on the other side.

While youre at it, buy one of the last remaining copies of the first press of Big Eyes - Hard Life, soon to be repressed on white vinyl.

  6. April 26th for sit resist.

We are tryign really hard to make this something people are excited about, not not unhappy about, no one is going to get crap (unless you don't like what we do in the first place). If there is something you already have or really don't one for any reason feel free to email me at [email protected] and let me know and ill make sure you don't get it but please don't put more than 1-2 things cause we don't exactly have that many releases to choose from.

Also, this sale is seriously because we need to clear out room, and sometimes people are asking us for things they can do that would help us. taking advantage of this sale, ESPECIALLY with CDs would really really help us right now.

  7. We’ve never done anything like this before, but we’ve also never had this many new releases coming in at once before (not to mention the ones that just came in). In an effort to clear space in a serious way, and also do something cool that will hopefully encourage people to check out some of our releases they may have missed, we are having a spring cleaning sale.

I am always skeptical of this kind of thing. Usually it is an excuse for labels to clear out their unsellable crap. That is not what we are doing here (although lets be honest, it would be nice to at least get rid of a little bit of our unsellable crap in the process).

For $14, $15, or $20 dollars PPD respectively, we will send you 3 RANDOM CDs, 7”s, or LPs. Nothing in stock will be held back, nothing will be a promo copy, and since we are clearing out a closet, people will most likely even end up with out of print items.

Sound good? I hope so because we need to make space.

These deals are for US AND CANADA ONLY (shipping alone would double the price of these deals)

These will run till May 1st or while supplies last.
