  1. Hello...I would LOVE some info on this particular Rinx Record. I'm an avid record collector and haven't seen this one before. I emailed the label and they provided the below info... any other info would be greatly appreciated. Collectible? valuable? Pictures below:

It is record #240 from the label.

Side 240-A  ST. LOUIS BLUES   (Handy)   92 Blues  Organist: Fred Bergin  (ASCAP)

Side 240-B  BASIN STREET BLUES n(Williams)   92 Blues     Organist:  Lee White   (ASCAP)      (If the label that you have reads  Fred Bergin  Organist it is a printing error)

The two songs were recorded 1955,  only 3 copies left.

Fred Bergin was the founder of Rinx Records which he started in 1950 out of Denver Colorado.

During the 1950’s & 60’s he hired various organists to record for him.  Lee White is a lady organist.

  3. For Sale/Trade:

    James Rivers - Ole.

This is the original JB's Records pressing with the Green labels.

Rare album to find in this condition...I grade conservatively.

Vinyl: VG/G+ (Good overall playing condition with some scuffs and wear, plays with some noise in a few places).

Sleeve: G+ (Cover has ring wear and overall wear on it. Still together).

This is a rare record, so condition is often overlooked.

  4. For Sale / Trade:

Test Pressing of The Modern Jazz Quartet's 1974 album "In Memoriam"... one of their best (in my opinion).

There were very few complete test pressings of this album made which makes it quite rare. This one belonged to their label, Little David Records.

The slip outlining the album details is in Mint condition (see picture).

    Vinyl: VG
    Sleeve: G

Vinyl is graded conservatively and has some scuffs but plays without pops. Sleeve is white and has some discoloration. Top seem has a few splits, but overall cover holds up well. (see pictures).

I've tried to detail all this in the pictures, but if you need more details or info; please do not hesitate to contact me and I will gladly get back to you...[email protected]

    Thanks!

  5. I go to Mexicali all the time, but I haven't looked into record stores in that area.

There has to be SOME, but I have no idea.

I have tons of family in Mexicali. (:

I'd have to ask my dad (he lived there most of his early childhood). He loves vinyl.

If you find out from your dad of any record stores in Mexicali and post it here, that would be awesome....thanks man.

  6. Sweet thanks. I'll check those out.

I have a Eddie Bo comp called the Hook & Sling. The Song "Eddie's Rubber Band" rules. I like the whole thing though.

That Wild Magnolias song is great. Hadn't heard of them before.

Not sure if you download stuff but there's a Goldmine torrent that has 67 northern soul cd comps. It's about 4 gigs worth of stuff. Have been slowly working my way through that the last year and have found some cool stuff.

I like pretty much every thing and have been going through Gabor Szabo's discography as well and found this song that sounds like an instrumental version of Massive Attack from 1969. Not sure if you're into that but it's pretty cool.

Such a fresh track. Massive Attack is great.

  7. Thanks for all the info guys.

I mainly bought the record because of the handwritten white label; plus I got it for a steal...I'm a huge funk/soul/music fan in general. I've worked at a few labels' marketing/a&r departments; so I have a vast appreciation for music from many sides. Recently I've mostly been listening to the Now Again Records catalog, which is run by the former GM of Stones Throw Records; if you're familiar with them. Now Again has been reissuing amazing funk/soul/jazz/world music on LP for many years. They have compilations of super rare 45s that are outstanding as well, def check those out. Other than that, mostly old stuff like Breakwater, Port Authority, JBs, Lou Donaldson, Gene Harris, etc...Any idea on the value? Curious.

  8. Hello,

I just got a 7'' of Ike Turner's "Father Alone" and it has a white label with the title and artist handwritten. I checked Discogs and they do not have anything matching. Stamped as a United Artists Records UA-13483-E. It also has K-8323 etched as well. I believe like the single, it has a stereo side and a mono side. I cannot find anything on this record. Does anyone have any info on it? Is it a bootleg?

    Thanks,

    D
