  1. If you read some forums like Audiokarma or Steve Hoffman you could come away with the impression all new records arrive warped or are purchased from a store warped. In the past several years I've personally only had a couple of issues and have bought countless records. Most recently my Ex-Machina second LP had a slight warping to it but was still playable.

  2. Sidewinder from MM sounds great. I have a jacket-less 80s reissue that sounds good but wow the MM!

So far I also have Go and Blue Train. I also have Ike Quebec Soul Samba 45 RPM from a few years back and if you enjoy Bossa nova and samba, this one is highly recommended. Not sure if it's eventually coming to the MM 33 1/3 schedule.

As far as selling out, I still see copies of the MM Blue Train out there and that was released a year ago. Compare that to the Coltrane Quality Records Mono reissues recently, and those seem to be getting harder to find.

  3. You guys need to hit Sound Gallery on South Congress. Not the Continental Club area. This is south of Ben White but at least there is parking. They've been getting tons of new vinyl in. And used titles I never see around town.

They also have gear vintage and new.. And a repair shop. On that note, I'm in there often because it's so close to me and half my visits I see someone bringing in a broken Crosley. The owner is trying to put together reasonably priced vintage systems as an alternative. He did well in December. Now he is getting low priced new tables in and powered speakers as a Crosley alternative. They don't sound bad. Really there is something there for all budgets.

They have little listening parties too. When Beatles mono came out I sat up there and drank free wine all day. I couldn't it make it to the night Jello Biafra came and spun records.

They probably have 3x the records now than you see on the web site.

  4. Mondocon was way too packed but so awesome.

Bought two iron giants and got two variants!!

I think I was one ahead of you yesterday Royce. So after chatting a bit, you inspired me to join VC this morning. I mainly hang out over on Audiokarma and lurk here sometimes.

So no Iron Giant variant for me but I did get a 2001 var. Pretty.

Stood in the rain for the Shaun of the Dead throw. Won a strawberry on my first try and crapped out and got a black on my second.

The Looper record really doesn't want to go easily back into the burlap bag. Probably I will just store it outside.

And finally the Test Pressing looks like it's 026 on the first record and 028 on the second record. Of course my old eyes can barely tell with the engraving so it could go either way I guess.

Oh yeah, and they let me keep the Omen I tossed.
