  1. Regardless, it's fair to say that the majority of smaller, mailorder-based labels do not report to SoundScan, which probably accounts for tens of thousands of records, if not hundreds of thousands.

It's definitely multiple hundreds of thousands. My site alone has sold 10s of thousands just in the first half of 2011. And I don't think anyone who uses LP reports to soundscan.

The really interesting numbers are the amount of digital releases sold. They're obviously a lot easier to sell, which means there's a lot more people not reporting.

p.s. this graph is pretty old. Was on the nielsen blog in early May

  2. any plans for a simple message board, maybe just a single section? I know it didn't see much action the original time, but if it's there, it could turn into something a little more this time

I don't think an Old LP message board will happen any time soon. We're only 2 dudes, and message boards are a lot of work. And what I mean by that is, when you have a board on a site that provides a service, people are always posting about that service, and we really pride ourselves on customer service. Especially with LP. So we would feel obligated to respond to every single post that had to do with us. And probably at great length. Like how I'm doing right now ahahah. It's a total day drain. If we ever get big enough to hire a community manager, it might be a decent idea. Thanks

  3. Hey guys, thanks a lot for all the support. Couple bugs I wanted to update everyone on.

    1. Collection links from Limited Pressing should have been forwarding and for some reason they weren't(Good catch Jon^^^), but now they are. Sorry about that.

    2. We had some weird bug with safari where you couldn't log in with our new multipass app. That's fixed.

And to explain multipass, it's a little app we created to allow people to log in with their LP username on multiple sites. Sort of like an Oauth system. Basically it will allow us to create new sites and still use the same log in system. One log in for all sites is extremely important for the future of LP and all LP related sites. We're also considering opening this up to other sites if they wanted to do comments or whatever. Not sure when that will happen though.

    Thanks again everyone!

  4. Just say you're taking offers on every record you have. Post it on every forum you can think of. Really the only way to go to get fair value. If you don't care about fair value and only time. Then just take the whole list and make a "Lot" auction on a site like ebay or mine. You'll get nailed, but it will be quick. Ebay is probably better for quick. LP is good if you have some time and just want to avoid crazy absurd fees haha. Good luck bro. You have a lot of nice stuff there for sure.

  5. sorry for the confusion everyone. The auction system is really just a personal auction system now. You can list auctions and then spread your link to the various social networks, put the link in your sig, post it on the boards, you can also make friends on LP with people who regularly auction items and their new auctions will appear in your news feed. But there's no section that shows all the auctions.

The link to your auctions that I'm talking about, is to your own auction list inside your profile. For instance, the dude above me with The Mad - Eyeball, his link would be http://limitedpressing.com/users/4062/auctions

Now the obvious question is why did we change the way it works. Well there's a few reasons, but the one that's most important to the people reading this thread is we're going to be concentrating on a new DIY selling service that should take the place of auctions at some point. Launch date is not set in stone, but it should be very soon. I think it will be pretty popular. Especially with the people on VC.

Also in the meantime we added a 30 day auction feature. Helps out when you just want to keep a link somewhere like your signature. Thanks

  6. this person has another one up too. Not sure if anyone noticed that. I would wait to see what that goes for before deciding whether or not to sell yours in this manner. If you look at that one that sold for 450 you'll see that there was 13 bids. But if you look at the bidders, you'll see that there were only 2. One could now assume that there are only 2 people out there that would pay this much for all 4. Now the second person has no one to compete against and should get it for a lot less. Notice this other auction has less than 3 days left, the starting price is 99 bucks, and there's no bids.

There's also another theory here that I think many people should realize. The person that lost the auction could very well have bought another set from the seller after the auction was over. The seller has proven that he has multiple sets. So why would he put up an auction when there's clearly someone out there that would pay top dollar for it? So there's a fairly good chance that the 2 people that would pay 450 no longer need a set and therefore your set of 4 would go for considerably less than 450.

And yes, I love auction theory ahaha. It's so much fun.

  7. i wonder how are different

Indecision "to live and die in NY" (silkscreen cover #57/150) Jawk records

Indecision - To Live and Die In New York City (Exit) Green 98/200

Indecision - To Live And Die In NYC (Silk Screened Cover)(54/150)

Indecision - To Live And Die In NYC (Green Marble)(155/200)

Indecision - To Live And Die In NYC (Orange Marble)(79/100)

i have the green one, orange one, black one and the silkscreened jacket

i remember all are pressed by exit and i doubt how different from green and green marble....

    :)

as far as i know...nothing. there is only one silkscreened version on black vinyl. I'm assuming he copied these from a trade list. Those green would be the same.

To calify this, they were all licensed from exit to Jawk Records. There's just a green made by Jawk and they're all the same. He also did the black with the silk screeed cover like grant said, then he also did a Black with a britney spears cover out of 18 to celebrate her 18th birthday heh, and he did a metal cover, ahaha yes a metal cover, out of I think 2 or 3. I don't have the britney cover or the metal one.

  8. haahh man there's still people out there collecting these bands. Thanks for the compliments. A buddy of mine Dan from LI has a great collection too. And if you combine his vinyl with his shirts, he has the best by far. It's completely absurd how many shirts he has. I'll try and get him to post some pictures.

  9. this was taken down. If you ordered it they might contact you about a refund. But I suggest you email Merchnow with your order email below support at merchnow.com. They're good guys over there so I don't think you will have any trouble. The real preorder for this should go up soon and it will be done by Morse Recordings. I'll keep the big man(Juan) posted on when it's for sale. Thanks
