I have the last box set and all the others included in this set already (including that crazy deluxe People's Key which is super awesome and I'll never give up) so this is a tough call for me as someone who likes nice-looking boxes.

Same, but the remastering got me.  Looking forward to this great looking box at a reasonable cost.

I bit the bullet and ordered. I actually got a shipping confirmation email yesterday, but it seems they just printed the label and haven't shipped it out yet. I'm a sucker for boxset packaging, but yeah I totally get where you're coming from. I will most likely never purchase something as expensive like that again for just a couple of extra features.

Same, I couldn't stomach the thought of missing out on this.  Also received shipping notification yesterday - departed USPS Origin 6/22, expected delivery via Priority 2 day is tomorrow 6/24. Its an expensive box we are paying for... hope they package it well.

  3. So what types of things did you subit to the ozone treatment? Is there anything that I should not let go? You mentioned things coming back looking weakend, what types of things were they?

    What insurance do you have?

It's been close to 10 years so I don't remember all the details. Interestingly Books and Magazines came back fine. The things I remember coming back not right were some clothes, shoes, etc. I can't remember what went through Ozone, or another treatment, so it's possible it wasn't just ozone, I just remember the Restoration company being a bit careless and out of sight, out of mind, once they had collected the items and charged the insurance company. The guy I dealt with was a total scumbag asshole, that I didn't trust and ultimately had it out with them.

  4. Thanks for all the great input guys! :)

I decided to not do the treatment. I moved all the records to my buddies place and he said he can't smell smoke on them at all, after 2 days. So I think it will be all good.

Once again, thank you for all the replies, and yes, apartment fire, the band, does in fact suck. Lol!

I had similar shit luck and my place went through Ozone. I did not submit my records. Most things came back fine from Ozone but on certain items there was an odor, and others looked weakened. It was the right move but there was never a significant odor and I have never smelled anything since.

I have a "Fine Arts Rider" for my vinyl. It's pretty reasonable. Off the top of my head $50K is ~$100 per year.

  5. From Haunted Town Records...

Hello again everybody, have a couple new items to check out...

Condemned 84 "In From The Darkness" LP on glow in the dark vinyl.

100 copies pressed total. Only 70 copies are going to be available to our mail-order customers ONLY. Got these done at the same time as the original pressing in 2011. Saved em till now..was gonna release em on Halloween but I got sick a couple days ago so got a day behind on that!

The super deluxe CD84 nutter special includes an MP3 digital download card of the album, vinyl sticker and insert. Super cool, they glow really long and bright. The plant that pressed these no longer offers em because of the cost of the materials. These will go fast so get one (or two) while you can

  6. Thought some Brendan Kelly fans may find this relevant to the thread - his quote..

"Goo Goo Dolls Hold me Up- I’m dead serious when I say that this is the record that the Lawrence Arms entire program is based on. Listen to it and you’ll see. The bassist sings faster, raspier more aggressive songs and the guitar player sings the more melancholy or thoughtful jammers with a clean voice that dampens panties up to 2 miles away. I actually sing the way I do based on just trying to imitate the bass player dude’s voice when I was younger. Yes, they’ve gone on to be this toxic avenger version of Bon Jovi that makes the soundtrack to middle aged moms masturbating by candlelight in their jaccuzzis, but man…this record killed me when it came out. Great prince cover too, and I tend to hate shit like that."

  7. nope. I got this email the other day:

Should be getting it any day Cesar, the records took way longer than expected to be manufactured, but they're out now. Thanks.

OK, thanks for this! Feeling better!

I received a similar email on 10/12/10 from Eric Brockman. Hopefully this is now true.

"Sorry for the delay, production is a little behind, but they're shipping out soon. Just waiting for the final product from the assembling plant. They were released earlier in the UK so that's why you may have seen them around. Planned on having them out the same day, but our assembly plant was just too busy.

    Thanks"

  8. I am talking for the price, this is a huge upgrade over the P1 and the internal changes will be significant. The P3 is being discontinued - talk with any audio store and they will tell you, and sell for the discounted price around $400-450, I have talked to two in the past week and confirmed.

I have never listed the to the P1 or P3, but have done a bit of research lately on these. Personally, I have a P5 and it's a terrific table, but am upgrading to the VPI Classic this week.

This thing got rave reviews! They took the best of the P1 and P3, discontinued both and made this.

I wouldn't go that far. It's really just a few small design changes over the old P1 with more colour options. The components on the P3 still stand largely above the RP1, especially the tone arm, which is the most telling component of a turntable as far as I'm concerned. Granted the P3 is more than double the price, though. Also, they haven't discontinued the P3, either. They made a few changes to that one, too, and introduced a wealth of colour options.

  9. Where did you hear that the 1200s are not going away?

    ^^^

Hell yea man, I love these decks in black! If I could go back in time I would have shopped around to find one, but all the places locally only had the 1200's and not the 1210's. Well now that my factory warranty is long gone, I guess I could always repaint it. :D

Oh yea, back on topic, the 1200 line ain't going anywhere, there just discontinuing the mk6 line, which as far as I know was never available in the US anyways, only Japan. The mk2, mk5 and m5g aren't going anywhere!

  10. If buying a table for listening to music you can buy much better for the price. I have bought both of my 1200s for $450 out the door from DJ shops in Chicago. They are now being discontinued and will probably be a solid investment.

The internal power supplies and tonearms of the 1200s suck for reproducing music. Also, they are direct drive vs. belt, not ideal. Check out Project, Rega, Music Hall, etc. for the best sonics for vinyl at a entry to mid-level price point. I just jumped on a Rega for listening, and use my 1200s for partying, fun and good looks.
