  1. If you can't handle the heat, then get the fuck out of the kitchen.

I understand a lot of people prefer the quality of audio vinyl produces over any other format, but if you're not willing to pay the premium the shut the fuck up and move along.

MP3s aren't that expensive. If you just want the songs, BUY THE FUCKING SONGS. You obviously have a computer.

I have no sympathy for broke fuckers that can't afford shit they want. That's life. Step your game up and stop bitching. It doesn't make you punk-rock because you don't want to pay a few extra bones for a record, it makes your a cry-baby.

    you are fucking awful.

Excerpted from Punknews.org's recent interview with Brent Eyestone: "So how are labels responding? Well, they're selling single LP's for $20 in stores and online and double LP's for $30-$35. IDIOTS."

That Manson Family LP is currently in Magic Bullet's webstore for $24.99. To paraphrase Brent Eyestone, "IDIOT."

Another excerpt: "The business practices and stupid "pre-order limited splatter variant" culture that a cracked operation like Vinyl Collective/Suburban Home has foisted upon the public and the industry in general have been adopted by so many fly-by-night record labels... Nobody gets it and everyone's just wasting money and non-renewable resources for just… crap that sits in basements across suburban America."

But whatever you do, don't forget to pre-order the new, super-limited colored vinyl variant celebrating a convicted murderer's 76th birthday!

  3. scott,

what was the intention on bringing up the fact that you had copies of the charles manson record to review but you have zero intention on reviewing them? for someone who wants to come off as the good guy here, you're digging yourself into a hole.

if you don't like what brent does, then YOU YOURSELF shouldn't support that. i get that point completely. but seriously, nobody fucking gives a shit. nobody wants to hear you talk about it in every single magic bullet related thread. why don't you just give those charles manson records to other places who WILL review it, or even just send them back to brent if you are seriously that adamant on not supporting his label's efforts? just seems like it would make more sense to me. it's like a "thanks but no thanks" thing.

or is using your position at a magazine as a manner of stroking your own dick that much more important?

I should clarify—only one copy of the Charles Manson CD was sent to me for potential review. The other two came thrown in with a big vinyl order I placed with ILC. I should also clarify that the Charles Manson CD was sent to me unsolicited, meaning I never requested it nor promised it would receive coverage.

As I explained up above to the jailhouse guy, I get hundreds of review submissions monthly, and it's impossible to cover them all. I have to prioritize what I think our readers would be interested in as well as what I'm interested in. The Charles Manson CD didn't fall into either of those categories.

    you side-stepped my question:

what was the intention of even bringing it up to begin with?

i get it, you have limited space and can't review everything. but why even bring it up? it seems like you were going out of your way to be a dick, which is what you consistently accuse brent of doing.

    pot/kettle.

  5. long time listener, first time caller....

This is the same guy who has repeatedly attacked/mocked/insulted/[whatever verb you want to use] upstart labels for licensing titles from other labels, indie and major alike. It's some serious pot/kettle shit.

I should add that I don't give a fuck what label licenses what title from what other label—I'm just in favor of good records being pressed on vinyl, no matter who does them.

I never post on here, but I felt a need to respond here. I have no personal stake in any of this (and know none of the particulars involved here), but man, you have such a hateboner for Magic Bullet. Cool it, Charlie. Calling someone out on their ties to major labels when that's the kinda shit that keeps AP's lights on is silly. Who are you to criticize a dude for putting out his friend's band, even if they happen to be massive?

    exactly.

the guy got a response about the pressing info and acted like a self-important dick about it, so he got an appropriate reaction. also, it's fucking punk music. if your purchasing of music is solely dependent on the color or limited availability of a record, you have some shit you need to work out. straight up.

i am admittedly most likely biased because i'm a big fan of the stuff brent puts out and have been for at least a decade now, but i don't see how calling a guy out for being a dickweed is mistreating anyone. if someone was giving you shit, you wouldn't be nice to them either.
