Got my replacement from KRM a few days ago. Surface noise is just as heavy on the replacement as it was on my original copy. Oh well... As others have said, it's not TERRIBLE.. just very noticeable/irritating on quiet parts and between tracks.
On the plus side, KRM's customer service is great. I had my replacement with a paid return shipping label in only 2 or 3 days.

Same thing here. All I is the 3xLP but no color/description. I still bought it anyway so whatever's I guess.
seriously, how the shit do i know if im ordering the loser edition? is that the only option, i thought there was a black one, too. i am crazy
Usually once the Loser Edition is sold out, they will put a strike through that part of the text in the description.

Most of the people with skipping/noise issues are using lower grade setups, right?
I've got an Xpression III with a 2m Blue and a Vincent PHO-8 pre-amp. Pretty decent.. I tested some other LP's after but this is the only one giving me any grief.
-
Lot of background noise on my pink one. No fun listen to it. Sounds like shit. Still after antistatic cleaning.
I have the same issue. It's a bummer because this album is way better than I was expecting. Anyone have any experience with KRM sending out replacements? Seems like some of these came out fine and some came out like garbage.
FYI - Pink is back up.

this might sound a little weird, but take it for what it is. this album coming out gives me the same feel as when mumford released babel. I was still loving the first record but was ready to hear something new. when I heard it, I basically thought, "oh that's a nice continuation with awesome songs but it doesn't hit me like the first one." then, after 10+ listens, I can't decide which record I like more. anyone feelin me?
I couldn't agree more. It took a handful of listens to start sinking in but now it gets better and better with each play. I think this album can elevate them to new heights if it gets promoted well enough.
Also, my 180g is a tight fit in that sleeve as well but it's nice how thick the sleeve is. It was great to pull it out of the jacket and not find any splits..

permafaust scored my copy.. unless a TMR trade comes through tonight. Sorry everyone else!
-
I have one that I'd like to trade for another Third Man item. BUT.. if no good trade offers come in tonight, I'll sell for cost plus shipping to the first person who PM's me.
Thanks for laying the shame on, Jeff!

To clarify, yea the RSD's are numbered, gatefolds, 180g. /3000
There's no word at all on what the releases will be AFTER RSD. I am only speculating. If the RSD's were numbered and limited, what would be the point of numbering the widely available copies released after Dec 31st? I mean they could, but at that stage I don't see why they would bother.
And yea, if you count the previous releases, Monuments, and the various rare-as-hell singles floating around out there, a lot of the Incubus catalog is our there in some capacity.... ($$$$$$+++++)
Thanks for clarifying. I'm thinking that the RSD copies will be the same ones that will be widely distributed later on. It's hard to imagine that indie stores will be able to move anywhere near 3,000 copies of each of these releases. But who knows.. crazier things have happened.
Nevermind, you already stated that your local store said that isn't the case. I'm dumb.
-
Just talked to my local record shop. The Incubus releases are "windowed." In other words, small shops have the exclusive for that windowed time, they said ~3 months is typical. It looks like the Incubus releases are until Dec, 31st. Best guess is that they will be widely available (Amazon, et. al) after that.
Not numbered, but as long as they don't change any of the specs (180g, gatefold), I'm tempted to skip the rush and hold out another month.
Are you sure these aren't going to be numbered? According to the RSD website, they will be. Although, it also says "first time on vinyl" which is untrue.

How much are the Big Three Tris?
The Big Three Tri's were $30 at the Northampton stop. They had 15 available and there was a 1 per customer limit. I was hoping they would be a little cheaper but it still beats paying $150+ on ebay..
-
I doubt flippers will be filling their name into the line.
True.. I just assumed they filled it in for you at the merch table. I thought I read something about that with the IIOI 52 Weeks box sets. I could very well be wrong though.
-
The whole "This record belongs to ____________" thing seems to be happening a bunch these days. I wonder if this will effectively keep flippers from jumping on these..

Third Eye Blind - S/T for $9.99 buy-it-now. Steal of the century.
Goddammit...
I'll be super pissed if I see this copy end up back on ebay next week.

Got this from BSM on Saturday in New York. As far as the colors go, the clear is very cloudy and blue is a dark translucent blue. I haven't had a chance to listen yet so I can't comment on sound quality.

^^ that's a good point about the catalogue number. I guess it makes more sense being that a test isn't a necessary part of a collection.
I think we'll be hearing about more and more of these flexis being found for years to come. Pretty cool in that sense.

^^ I've seen two other auctions for this and neither sold for over $500. Yet, people have paid thousands for the blue balloon flexi.
I understand that Jack White / TMR collectors are often throwing down big money to obtain tri-colors and all the other rare TMR stuff on ebay.
What I don't understand is how someone will pay over $4k for a flexi disc which is /1,000, contains one album track and traveled in a helium balloon, while a test press of the ENTIRE album won't sell for over $500.
Novelty is a crazy thing.

I ordered yesterday afternoon; guess there was a mistake, as I just received an email letting me know that they're now out of stock.
I would have figured that the store would have a system to ensure that the correct amount of stock is sold, but not much I can do from my end.
Yeah, I ordered yesterday afternoon as well and just received that email about 20 minutes ago. Bummer.
For anyone who is worried that their order might be cancelled, my order number was 153264.
-
Looks like they oversold the Straylight record. I just received this e-mail:
"Dear Victory Records customer,
We regret to inform you that the Straylight Run clear/black smoke vinyl is now out of stock and we will not be able to fill your order. Your card was not charged and your order was voided. We apologize for the inconvenience and let me know if you have any questions."
-
ive ordered a couple things and didnt get coupon. lady luck was smiling down at you my friend!
I guess so! Bummer that no one else got the email though..
-
For those of you who didn't get the email and are planning on buying this today, it might be worth giving customer service a phone call to see what the deal is with the coupon. I mean.. the bundle came out to $32 and some change with the code. That's one hell of a deal.
-
My first order through them was today using the code.
-
your local store may vary in price. my store has a printout with titles and prices.
Is the printout for your store online? If so, can you link me to their web site? I'm just trying to get a general idea of how inflated the prices are going to be this year. Thanks.
nevermind... i just found my stores prices.
