Contemplating if I should buy these, or wait for the re-mastered versions to come out next month.
Re-masters will be sourced from digital, LP's will be cut from 24/96

idk it's a tough call...i wasn't able to snag alot of the records i was looking for, but able to grab other ones i heard that people wanted. I tried to work out some trades (and i did) but i don't see it as a cardinal sin if you essentially sell a $20 record on Ebay for $80 and then spend $80 on a $20 record you were looking for but couldn't get...kinda like a swap really, obviously you're feeding the Ebay monster but what are you going to do?!

Looking for:
Soul Asylum-Grave Dancers Union and Let your Dim Light Shine
Any Drive by Truckers records
The Band except-Self titled/Stage Fright/Greatest Hits
Willing to pay almost (but not quite) Ebay prices
Thanks-

I may try e-mailing this Randy...I have that record and the 2nd record sounds horrible, even after a good cleaning
Randy got back me after 4 hours and offered to send me another copy, without even sending back the old one which I was more than willing to do. Much props.

I've always wondered about those cork mats.
I made one. Just bought some thin cork board at the local craft store and traced a record, cut it, and then put it under a stack of books for a week to flatten it out. I use it sometimes. Def cuts down on static (over a felt mat)

Hey I know you from RAA lol

Willing to pay a reasonable price, thanks for your time

six years ago, he was still charging $10 for a 7" on his website. this is nothing new.
Yeah, I wish I would have bought those old paxam releases (California, Rescue Blues) when they were available. I felt like they were too expensive but now those things are going for quite a bit...
Ryan Adams vinyl is worth buying at costs. I missed the sale online but I managed to get a copy from trading on RAA. I would have been so bummed to miss this release.
Me too. Would kill for the California EP especially. I do have a vinyl rip if you want it.
I also traded for the Empty Room 7" on RAA. Had to ship a t-shirt to the UK but totally worth it.

I was actually listening to Louder Than Bombs today And noticed particularly off sound on 'Sheila Take A Bow' and 'Shoplifters of The World...". All this talk of crumby sound on US issues of their records (and with Louder being the US version of "The World Won't Listen", I couldn't help but think of this thread. Sorta ruined my listening experience but made me want to track down UK copies of the records as well so I'd call it even.
Sorry to piss on your parade man:)

I have both the UK and US versions of all of the Smiths records except Queen Is Dead. The only one that I hear a big difference on is the S/T one. Morrissey's vocals in the US version sound a little distant, like it's a weird mix. The UK version they sound like they are situated correctly in the mix. The others all sound similar. The UK versions have a little more depth to them, but I don't think many would notice the difference.
Thanks nice write-up. agree 100% on the US mix for The Smiths...the whole production seems terrible:(

i may have fucked up the links...there is a version of Reel on The Smiths, one on Hatful of Hollow, and then the re-mastered one from The Smiths-however to my ears the remastered version (supervised by Marr on Rhino records) sounds far superior.
I have all US original pressings, except Hatful which is a UK press. Can't say that i've ever heard the UK originals.

it's a total rip off that the repress sells for that much, but thanks for the tip. i found originals of all their other albums for less than $13. i'm planning on stopping by their broadway location later so i'll do some digging!
imo the remastered/repress on Rhino is worth every penny. I own all of the originals and the repress/remasters and the repress/remasters sound so much better, John Porter did a shit job of producing their first record especially. just my opinion of course, but listen for yourself, even mp3's dont lie on this one...
original:
remastered:
Now THAT is some shimmery guitar love:)

$10 for a 7" I can handle, $6 for shipping is the difficult thing to swallow about this.
But like a previous poster, my man-crush on Adams "has me over a barrel" as someone else said, so I pulled the trigger. It'll look nice next to my pink Pax-Am 7"
For what it's worth, pax-am has shipped all my stuff Priority Mail thus far, including records and t-shirts even...

dude i don't know, it seems like you've done the right things. i have the same player, i have no such issues. maybe hit up your local hi-fi shop? try to find some old guy who looks like he's been working on stereos for about 50 years, almost guaranteed he can help you.
