  1. do any of you know this person:

    GIULIA DE ROSA

    or DE ROSA VALENTINA

i got two identical orders 2 days apart from this person and I was wondering if any of you could verify if they're legit people. I get orders periodically from daniele who posts here but, alas...I realize it's a shot in the dark if anyone here actually knows them. or if it's a typical Italian mail scam that other labels have had problems with. their address is unconfirmed and it's just a tad bit too goofy of a situation...i emailed them to confirm the legitimacy of the 2 orders, but I figured I'd give this a shot too

the order was intended to go to:

    26865 SAN ROCCO AL PORTO

    LO

    Italy

The address is correct but uncomplete, the street name is missing.

San Rocco al Porto is the name of the city, Lo is the code of the province (Lodi), the zip code is also correct, but it's really strange that there is no street address.

That's the address you got from paypal?

Don't ship if you don't get a reply from them, and ask for a complete address.

  2. All the Unsane album were realised on vinyl except for Peel Sessions, Amrep Cr., Attack in Japan (the Japan cd version is really rare) and Lambhouse.

Scattered.. is really hard to get and it could be expensive, last copy i saw on ebay went for around 50 $. I think it was only realesed by AmpRep, i've never seen a german version and the Italian label Runt only realised the cd version.

Usa version of Occupational hazard was realised on black vinyl and picture disc version (limited to 1000) by Relapse; italian version made by runt was only on black vinyl.

Blood Run was made by relapse: 500 red, 500 black, 100 blue/white/black swirled, 100 clear

Visqueen was made by Black Diamond : 200 red, 800 black ( 200 gr. vinyl).

All the other info about 12" on grunnerock.nl are +/- correct.

  3. it was several months ago i got the first one (w/ the rectangular gold sticker).

it didn't sound that bad, just 'bright' as people say. the back to black reissue sounded a lot better so i got rid of the SV one.

then i saw this silver sticker SV and gave it a whirl. it doesn't sound crappy really, just not great.

i think that all the copies with rectangular sticker are 100% original.

About sound quality, i agree with you, i don't like so much that SV version, it sounds good but it's nothing special.

According to many audiophiles, the best sounding Nevermind version are:

    - Mobile Fidelity

    - 2007 Universal Japan repress on 200 g. vinyl

    - 1st Japan pressing (1996)

One of my favourite Nevermind is the Argentinian 12" : different back sleeve and titles in spanish (Smells like Teen Spirit is Olor Adoloscente)..horrible sounds but it's an amazing version.

  4. hm, that would mean the other SV copy I had was not authentic either. it didn't have an insert.

    ...

not necessarily, maybe some copies didn't have the insert.

Did you buy it new and sealed and do you remember the date of purchase? Except for this strange new pressing, i've never seen or heard about a Simply Vinyl fake, so if you bought your previous copy at least 1 or 2 years ago i think it was 100% original, especially if your "old" copy had a good sound (boot usually sounds crappy !!)

  5. ......

So, for my Simply Vinyl w/ Endless Nameless, info is:

    silver round sticker

    SVLP 0038

    UPC: 643346003818

    Matrix: SVLP-0038 A/B

there seem to be a lot of the silver sticker ones popping up on ebay now...maybe it's a later pressing?

i'm sure this version is a new repress, but frankly i've many doubts abouts its authenticity, i'm afraid it's a fake.

The only nevermind vinyl versions pressed with EN was the German fake (first copies appeared around 2000/01).

There are, at least, two 100% official Simply Vinyl versions:

the first one was manufactured in England in 1998 (matrix code SVLP 0038 A-1-1 SVLP 0038 B-1-1), later pressing were manufactured in Holland. matrix code of holland pressing is:

    08 43021 20 1A1 SVLP 038

    08 43021 20 2B1 SVLP 038

Both versions come with an insert, have a silver or gold rectangular sticker and come with a special PVC outer sleeve with Simply Vinyl logo embossed.

  6. so i've always wanted to own some cool nirvana seven inches...who here thinks this would be a good investment?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/COLLECTION-OF-16-HERE-SHE-COMES-NOW-NIRVANA-7-HSCN_W0QQitemZ300248058187QQihZ020QQcategoryZ306QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I don't know if it would be an investment or not, but it's a really wonderful HSCN collection.

if the record and sleeve are mint ( and it's almost impossible to find a truly mint sleeve) a good price is around 3500, 5000 is too much. There is a very rare version : the so called muddy white, no copies surfaced on ebay in the last two years and there are no more than 10/15 collectors who own a muddy white. A muddy white could be an investment. Nowdays it's hard to fix a price for that version. Moreover the green variations, the blue grey, the yellow, the pink (there are two pink versions), the dark grey are usually sold for more than 200 if in mint condition. i'd pay immediately 200 dollars for a mint pink or a dark green version.

  7. I'm from Italy and i often buy records from Usa, frankly Italian Post doesn't offer a great service but it's not a total scum.

I agree with xfedaykinx, this crappy situation was the result of several combined things. The main cause was the so called "2007 Christmas Crisis" when the italian postal service collapsed due to the overshipment of the Christmas' period. The result was a terrific delay in consignment (not only from Usa): i received in march a order shipped on 19th december

At the moment the situation is coming back normal; i received my last five orders (2 from VC)- all shipped via First class - within 10 days.

Moreover italian custom office has increased the controls for all the goods that come from no EU countries: so if a package has stopped at custom, a delay in consignment is 100% guaranteed (especially if you use Priority mail ).

x newbie : feel free to email me if you have doubts or you need informations

  8. There are so many colors and variations it's hard to keep track off. I'll try and get a love buzz 7" family picture soon, i think if i include mine, we could make it up to 5 and a test press.

you're right about the variations..if we look at some basic color, like the purple, i think is more easy to find a variation than two identical copies!! btw i was pretty curious about your HSCN collection. That record has become one of the most sought-after Nirvana records (especially some almost impossible to find variation, such as the Mustard, the orange or the so called muddy-white) and there aren't around so many collectors with more than 10 different HSCN !!

  9. Just for fun, Here is every chung king in Belgium : One is mine, the other 2 are owned by a friend. Actually all 3 were his, but i was lucky enough to get one off him.

Here is the nirvana/melvins split 7" about half of these are mine :

i know that picture...definitely one of the biggest Nirvana/Melvins collection.

xjeremyx : what color do you own?

Belgium is plenty of Nirvana rarities !!! :)

  10. I'm in Florence at the moment, there's nothing here, alas. If you have time to find your way to Berlin, however, there's an awesome store called Bis Aufs Messer (they have an online store of the same name). This place is seriously mecca for punk/emo/hardcore/post-rock/doom etc. records. Well worth the excursion if you can get up there.

    About Florence, look at:

Rock Bottom - via degli alfani 34/r 50121

They have vinyl only, it's expensive but there are a lot rarities...

Right..it's a vinyl collector shop, doesn't sell cd but only vinyl (new and used).

Mainly specialized in 70/80 rock, prog ..but there are some punk h/c vinyl. High price for collector items. It's in the core of Florence, 5 minutes from the Cathedral (Duomo).

    Another shop in Florence is:

Data Records, via dei neri 15/r

  11. I'm from Italy too...

frankly Italy is not the best place where find/buy records. vinyl, especially the import ones, are usually overpriced; just for istance the lowest price i've ever seen for a Relapse or Deathwish vinyl is 16.50 euro ( 25.50 $), but the average price is around 20 euro (30/31 $).

BTW let us know which cities are you planning to visit and we'll try to suggest something..

  12. Is there any way to tell the difference between that press and the supposedly corrected press?

Frank said he bought his copy 3 weeks ago in a big chain store, so this version is maybe still in press and i suppose they didn't press a corrected version. BTW if a corrected version exists, it must have different matrix.

The number 320 is the code of Universal's factory at Hannover (Germany) where the lacquers were cut.

  13. What about the silver sticker first presses? The later pressings have gold stickers...

As for LB, copy 228 just sold for under $200... looked legit to me. Anyone have contact with that guy?

Regarding the SV with silver sticker : i'm not 100% sure, many first pressing have the silver sticker, but i'm not sure if they used the silver st. only for the first pressing.

Regarding LB 228 :if you are talking about the copy recently sold on ebay, it's 100% fake. It's the unfamous olive green vinyl version.

  14. The Simply Vinyl In Utero is officially out of print. If you see it, grab it.

    Really? How many were pressed?

There is no official number , but i suppose it's huge.

These records are still easy to find in Europe, moreover there are at least two different pressing. First press, realesed before 2000,

has white label and was made in Uk. The second pressing has black label and was made in Holland. Holland copies have the matrices that start with the number 08.

  15. Right, that Love Buzz is a fake, and also not well made.

As you said, no one copy under 100, surfaced or registered on sliver.it, has the "0" before the number, moreover if you look at the credits the name of Susanne Sasic is misspelled as "Sasis". This is typical of 2 UK fake.

Unfortunately there are several LB fake around. One is really well made and hard to spot if you don't check the vinyl matrix.

  16. What about the 180G UK presses? Either way, the ones we have sound great.

Uk 180 gr are pressed by Simply Vinyl.

I've got nevermind and unplugged and they sounds very good.

In utero is more controversial, i've read many negative comment including a strange story about "Very Ape" regarding the Cobain's guitar solo that is more long than one on original Geffen release. I don't have this Simply Vinyl version but i'm planning to buy it, i'm too curious about this strange Very Ape version.

About sound quality, the best for Nevermind are the Mobile Fidelity version (but it's very expensive) and recent Universal japan repress on 200 gr. vinyl.

For In Utero, in my opinion, the 1996 Japan edition

  17. why would you put a record UNDER the flexi? seems like a horrible idea.

to create a solid base, otherwise the weight of cartridge/tonearm may damage the flexi or you can damage the stylus . It depends on what turntables you use.If you have a turntables with solid platter (acrylic) it could be ok, but if you use, for example, a soft ring mat it's not easy to play correctly a flexi.

I've an old Technics which has only a rubber ring mat and it's impossible for me to play a flexi without putting a vinyl record under.

  18. i don't know where to put this, but i feel i should warn anyone thinking of doing what i did. i recently purchased (from ebay) a Clash - Bankrobber green flexi from some guy in Poland -- I knew it was bullshit but bankrobber is my friends favorite song by the clash and his birthday is coming up so i thought that even though its a bootleg (worse than a bootleg, really) it would be a good idea because all i wanted was that one song. I got it the other day, and its super super crappy. the needle/arm/everything is too heavy to hear anything but static, i could sorta make it out after turning the volume up to 40, but still mostly static. I even took the counter weight off to see if that helped, it didnt.

SO DON'T BUY THIS (nobody will i'm sure, but just a warning)

flexi discs are ultra-fragile, and they are subject to deteriorate easily. However, have you put a vinyl record under the flexi when you've played it ?

  19. I picked up the german repress w/ the Albini mix about 3 weeks ago from a big electronic chain. So I assume they didn´t correct it.

But I really gotta say, it sounds awesome, it´s definetly one of my best sounding vinyl records.

And the Albini mix is a lot different than the mix from the original press, more distortion and feedback sounds, no dubbed voices on HSB etc.

great info, so it's still available.

Some months ago, on ebay a copy went for over 300 $...i think we can include that auction in ebay crazyness 3d ;D
