PC Music
I sold something online and someone from the UK ordered (I'm in Texas). I normally add a note that says US buyers only, but I guess I forgot to this time. How much do people usually charge for shipping from US to UK. And is there any increased risk of the record getting damage? That's the main reason I don't like shipping overseas.
omfgnicholas
I never liked the thought of selling outside the US, but it is actually a pretty painless process. You can expect the shipping rate to be between $9-$13 for a standard LP. The only extra thing necessary for shipping something outside the US is filling out a customs form, which is surprisingly simple.
disconnectrecs
Quick tip - if you want to help the buyer, it's worth shipping marked as a gift with a low value, as I think anything marked over £15 now gets charged customs coming into the UK. In addition to that, sometimes if it hits customs, you also get done with an admin / holding charge, which definitely isnt cheap. Last time I had something coming over, it was held in customs and charged tax of something like £5, then a admin / holding fee of £8 and then I had to phone an expensive phone line to resolve...! This was something for the label which I was selling on at a cheap price, so I ended up losing money on that in the end! Happy shipping!
