  1. Hi all, It's Colby from Rocket Heart Records. Had to dust off an old Vinyl Collective username. First thanks for all the support and enthusiasm. We are staying really optimistic even though we still have about $10K left to go in a little over a month. Tell your friends! To settle the Great Test Pressing Debate of 2014. The number of total test pressings has always been 10. With 4 originally going to Kickstarter and the other 6 going to the label. To try and get a bump in pledges we changed the amount of Kickstarter pressings to 9, with the 1 other pressing going to my collection. Still very rare, with the chance to own 1 of 10. Again, thank you for your support, and if you haven't done so, think of everyone you went to see UFB with, and get them to pledge $15, $20, or more! There has to be more than 83 UFB fans out there!
  2. I think the picture disc is the only one that is hard to come by now days.
  3. Yeah that is a great program. The homeless people actually work for their money. I'm not on here that much. I'm not part of the VC "in crowd" so I don't read every thread and such. I will check it out though! Awesome that your album is recouped already without even pressing it yet!, pretty impressive. Most labels/bands have to sell copies in order to recoup label expenses. If you want to? You can pay for my latest pressing if you want? It was only around 2800 bucks, or something like that for 1000 copies. I'll even cut you a deal. In return for paying for my pressing I will give you some of the copies for only 13 bucks a pop! So in return for your pledge of 2800 dollars you also get 215 (give or take)copies of the LP. That mean's I can use the addition 800 copies for pure profit. Thanks to your generous pledge. I'll even toss some exclusive stickers and a custom hologram 3d pick. Actually when the numbers come down, we will not be fully recouped. There are fee's with Kickstarter, taxes, shipping, packaging, licensing, etc. In the meantime, you might want to move your index.php page of you site outside of the "site" folder and to your root. Redirect page is a very interesting page to first look at. Just some advice from another web designer.
  4. It's amazing how much money panhandlers in NYC can actually bring in just by sitting there with a sign and a hat. I know, I once saw a thing on tv about that! Then there is a great company based in Seattle called "Real Change". They give homeless people newspapers to sell. Profits from the paper they sell goes directly to them in a form of a paycheck. It's a pretty cool idea! And why haven't you posted in this thread yet? http://vinylcollective.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=47830 They did the exact same thing we did.
  5. People are always afraid of the "new" until it becomes the "normal." There was once a time when an electric guitar was known as the devil's instrument. Either way, we are funded and a huge thank you goes out to everyone who pre-ordered a copy. We are going to be turning and burning to get this record to you asap! http://kck.st/9C1yzh
  6. We have less than 30 hours left and within $200 of our goal. Almost all of the red copies have been reserved, but there are still a few left! Pre-order now, so we can get this thing to presses asap. http://kck.st/9C1yzh rocketheartrecords.com/ufb
  7. We are almost there! about 27 red copies left and about 5 days to reach our goal! Thanks to all the backers so far! Let's make this happen! http://kck.st/9C1yzh
  8. That I would like to hear! But not on vinyl haha.
  9. I'd say too late...the band has only been around for about 13 years.
  10. Thanks for everyones input! All has been noted and hopefully we won't have to go through a Kickstarter in the future! I'm glad no one else is using Kickstarter to fund their vinyl project: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/search?term=vinyl
  11. Yes, releasing records is taking a risk. The point of what we are trying to do is release music on a format that we all like...vinyl. Needless to say, people don't get into the music business for the money, unless you're Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga. I grew up listening to Ultimate Fakebook and when we formed the label, this was one of the first releases I wanted to do. All the Kickstarter thing funding is doing is taking a little of the risk out of it. We turned it into an extended pre-order..Vinyl Collective does nearly the same thing...doing a pre-order 2 months out. But once again, we are taking the risk out. You pledge(back) $19(or more) you get the vinyl first when it is released, plus you get an exclusive stickers and poster. If we don't hit our goal amount, the record doesn't get pressed, and no one is charged anything and it's like nothing ever happened. If we do reach our goal amount, then everyone is happy, those backers get a record, including their selected rewards. What is there to complain about? I don't think ripping Geekrawker a new one is warranted. Are you willing to risk $2500 of your own money in this economy? Or would you rather put your money on a sure bet that if you don't reach it, you're not out? It's common sense here. With that said, we really want to thank all of our awesome backers so far. We have 18 days left on Kickstater and $1500 to go. This is really going to a great album release and I hope we can reach our goal. http://kck.st/9C1yzh Alsom if you haven't checked out Ultimate Fakebook's winter tour dates, you can do so here: www.rocketheartrecords.com/ufb
  12. You are correct! If everything goes as planned, this release will be available just in time for UFB's shows this winter. Thanks again for everyone's support! We sold out of the test pressing already!
