  1. I didn't notice the reissue price at first and so when you said "kind of steep" I saw the 299 and was all WHAT.

Hah.  Seems like 30 dollar plus for an album is the new 20 dollar plus for a new album.

Seems like the demand is there for them to charge an exorbitant amount. It's funny because the high demand for a lot of OOP records are solely due to their rarity as opposed to how good the record is (AKA ~the hobby~), which the labels can then exploit to sell reissues at a premium once the demand reaches an all-time high. Essentially, record collectors are dumb and insatiable which allows labels take advantage of that.

This brings up another somewhat tangential point which is that it's almost pointless to buy any OOP records anymore, as more and more labels are finding that there's a high demand for a lot of their catalog that's OOP and therefore they'll end up repressing it anyway, especially while the "vinyl bubble" still exists.

  2. Just for the record......a lot of times with limited releases like this it might be possible to distribute through Amazon, so technically a link like this is created by them, but it doesn't ensure they'll be allocated any. The way it works is all of the (U.S. stores in this case) stores that order the title get priority. If there's anything left after the allocations are divided up, you have the option to distribute through Amazon. Unless more of these ended up getting pressed than we initially made the contract for....I wouldn't necessarily bank on Amazon. Fair Warning, if you pre-order from Amazon you run a decent risk of getting a cancelation later on down the road....you're local Indepdent record stores (here in the U.S.) should be getting the bulk (if not all) of this title

Right, exactly. Especially if indie retail is a big account for the distributor/label, and they're willing to carry more stock and support with advertising/promo.

  3. Considering no one in the band or label's camp has tweeted about it there probably is a press partner

It's up for streaming as well as an instant grat on iTunes, so I'm thinking there might not be a press partner. Press usually has 24 hour exclusivity, but maybe they got a partner who doesn't care about that. Regardless, I just hope more people hear the song because it's great!
