  1. All this talk about the 7"... We're giving away Red Scare patches and glow-in-the-dark pins at the other shows, nerds! Those are the real sweet prizes!
  2. You forgot to mention my adorable pooch that roams the bar in search of skirts to look up. Little bastard has no class, no couth. But yeah, smartbar is a real depressing dungeon. It bears mentioning, however, that Fletcher and I went down there last night cuz Moby was DJing! Just for like 5 or 10 minutes, which was the perfect amount of time.
  3. How will it affect my karma? Provided I make no mention of forced distros...
  4. Okay, so I kinda have the scoop on this. It's NOT going to be at Smart Bar, it's going to be in the balcony of the main room at Metro. I guess the first 150 people in the door who are 21+ get writbands for the after-show. I am told that it starts like 15 minutes after the show and people get pizza and two free beers! (tip your bartender, you swine) Hopefully Chris will manning the DJ duties because he's great and Brendan will too drunk to play anything but Priest. It doesn't sound like this is gonna be super tight, so I can probably usher anyone from here up there if they come find me.
  5. Ha! So this "karma" thing. I noticed I was at like 6 and now I'm at like -4. And because I don't think bands are evil because they decline distro-ing other bands stuff, huh? Yikes. Maybe it's not such a bad thing after all if VC goes away...
  6. Ha, ummm, did I say something to offend you? Hope not! I was drunk too, ya know! Sheesh, ya put on a cool secret show in a garage with TLA and Cobra Skulls and THIS is what I get, ha!
  7. Constantly? The only thing I have "constantly" mentioned is that I DO distro my stuff when I go out with Red Scare bands and the bands I work don't mind either. The ONLY thing I said and ever said is that I could understand if bands didn't want to bother with selling other people's shit. Maybe it's a hassle, maybe it'll cut into their merch sales. Either way, I don't see it as a major crime against the punk community if you don't want to do it. As for "naming names" (what, so you could crucify a band for not abiding by YOUR punk code? :), I don't have any names, because I don't know of any bands. Jesus Christ, people.
  8. I'm not allowed to disclose if TBR is playing that Halloween show because of their Riot Fest radius clause, but I can answer that question after 10/10. *wink wink, nudge nudge*
  9. That is an accurate assumption sir! We have: a cute dog, Pabst on tap, beer and liquor specials, and a jukebox with Bad Brains, Lillingtons, Social D, Cobra Skulls, Stiff Little Fingers, Copyrights, Clash...you get the idea.
  10. VJ I think this is what he was talking about. It is, but let's be done with it. I guess it was stupid of me to think that punk posturing would be gone in this day and age, so I get what I deserve. NEXT.
  11. That's great and all, but when you make declarative (and uninformed) statements about people's business or when you pass judgement on people you don't know, it comes as off naive. That goes for a lot of things in life, just so ya know. Based upon your post, I genuinely thought you WERE 16. Sorry for that assumption, but I'm more sorry that you don't have enough sense/life experience to know better. I'm done talking about this. I'll have fun with my distro, you have fun condemning all the bands without them.
  12. I keep hearing about this but really nothing about it. Metro is always trying to steal the drinkers from Gingerman! I'll figure it out and get back to ya. Good to hear you're doing multiple shows! You wimps are missing out on the OWTH/Copyrights/La Plebe show though!
  13. i never told you what to do. or any band what to do. There are tons of bands that wont sell other bands merch. and do all kinds of stuff i dont agree with. thats their choice. its their tour. But its also my choice to say they suck, and i wouldnt support them. Whether or not its "punk" i personally think its a douche move to make. i dont care what "punk" is. i do care about supporting your friends and supporting a scene, and not simply being out for yourself. it has nothing to do with mohawks and bondage pants (im not sure where that even came from). laughing about it with your chums (look at this puny "junior" trying to insult me and tell me what punk is), is just weak and fratboy-esque, because i wasnt insulting you, nor telling you what punk is. Just stating that i think attitudes like that suck, and i dont think that helps support any sort of independent "community" or whatever. So it's okay for you to judge and condemn people about their own business but it's fratboy-esque if you get called out on it? Cool. Noted. By the way, it bears mentioning for the umpteenth time, but I myself distro shit and all the bands I work with are supportive of it. I just don't see where people get off telling others what's okay and what's not when they've never been in that position. To me that's just a sign of immense naivete.
  14. I guess I just don't understand why people get so righteous and angry over little things in the scene. Just because a band doesn't wanna sell other band's merch along with theirs doesn't make them Tony Brummel. Oh well, as I've been told multiple times in this thread, I guess I am just not punk enough to understand.
  15. I agree with you and Dante, people prattling on about who is punk and who isn't because of what they see at shows IS beating a dead horse. You would think in 2009 people wouldn't be preaching about that corny shit. What/who is phaseone?
  16. you gonna make it out to the west coast, you know you're trying to visit seattle, don't even deny it. Yessir indeed. It'll be good to be home. I wish TLA was going up there with us, but it wasn't in the cards. Seeya then...WITH MY DISTRO!
  17. I'm gonna start bringing a distro to shows just to spite you on this. up teh ponx Like I said, when I go out on tour I bring Red Scare shit to sell. Teh ponx have already been upped, Justin!
  18. Hey Andy, I'm coming to the show. So we should totally have a beer together as well! What's all this talk of singular "show" people?!?! We got 3 shows, good ones too!
  19. Take out that last part. If you haven't seen a distro you are definitely not a punk, case closed. Distro = punk. Punk = distro. Distros are the new bondage pants, and if you ain't got one, forget about it, kids.
  20. I agree with you and I have mentioned this to the band. If I had my way, I would call the game at 15 minutes before doors open, hand them out, and let people go to their cars or whatever. Wise people will use the coat check.
  21. I will NOT be on those dates actually. (And nor will my distro as a result, d'oh!) I am leaving the tour for a week because I need to be back in Chicago for Red Oktoberfest. Bummed about missing Boston, Philly, and Toronto, those are great towns.
