  1. I recently had the stock cartridge of my Pro-ject Debut III replaced with a new Ortoron 2M Red. I run this through my computer via a standard audio cable from my preamp (Rega Phono Mini), and often record my records through Audacity. Ever since the cartridge swap, I've visibly noticed a lot more surface noise on my recordings between tracks, lead-in/out, etc... The stock cart would often show very little sound movement in the Audacity visual representation on the silent parts, and it was very easy to tell where a songs fully ended. With the 2M Red cart, there is very little difference between fade-out music and silence by look. The extra noise is not really too noticeable while just listening straight through a record, but you can definitely hear the difference when playing back the silent parts on the Audacity recording. Any idea on what may be causing this and how it can be resolved? Is this just a difference with the carts? Overall, the cartridge sounds great when there is music, but it's kind of annoying seeing how much difference in noise there is. Hopefully that explanation makes sense. Thanks!
