  1. Lets say you take 100 random people and 100 record collectors. I guarantee there will be more scumbags in the latter group.

    Hear me out.

This is all shit that has happened in the last couple of months. And I have virtually no online presence so this is pretty concentrated. Had a Ryan Adams Heartbreaker original issue vinyl up for sale. Buyer contacts me with a pretty low offer, I try and help him out (not being snarky) by telling him it has been reissued for around his price. He tells me he collects first pressings of RA and really wants this for his collection. Cool, I get that and I offer to sell it to him for slightly more than his initial offer. A couple of weeks later my Ebay saved search email shows this guy trying to flip it at around what I had it listed for. Send him a message and no response.

One of my friends bands had me give away 5 test pressings of their first album. It has no album and label art so they didn't feel right charging for it. At the show the only thing I asked was people give away the album if they didn't like the music, I mean this was after the show when presumably they would have seen them open for the main act, so they should have had a rough idea what the music was like. Sure enough a week later one of these pressings is up on Ebay as rare New York metal band test pressing only 5 made.

And what about all the unkempt greaseballs at record shows with that "got mine" attitude and no consideration for others browsing?

Seriously these last couple of weeks it's made me sick just putting a record on, I'm just getting on Apollo and downloading the damn thing.

Why no plexi? You're exposing it to UV rays and pollutants without something blocking the front. If it was cheap and you don't care about it much, then do it and dry mount it. If you want it to last forever, do it properly. You can use photo corners, or some archival linen tape or something similar to mount it.

I have been going back and forth it. The main reason is all three (once I eventually find them) will be going behind the speakers and take up a good amount of space front wall reflections start to become an issue with glass/plexi type of surfaces. It's less of an issue in really large rooms.

Also is it possible to get UV protective plexi that is anti-glare as well? This is another consideration from an aesthetics point of view.

Acid burn doesn't happen immediately, it's a slow process....it's also very real...and it's 100% irreversible. I've seen photographs dissentigrate while trying to remit and frame them. I've seen hand-signed and numbered prints fall apart and customers cry about losing the irreplaceable piece. I've seen it so bad that the print became so brittle inside the frame that print crumbled and the print slipped because of it.

Using non-archival backing (ESPECIALLY CARDBOARD) is the second quickest way to ruin a print. First being using non-UV protective glass and having your print in direct sunlight.

If you're paying any kind of real money for these prints or originals for that matter (non-painted originals), and you want to enjoy the piece for more than 5-10 years you really need UV protective glass and an acid free backing....and ideally acid free matting as well.

Just so it's out there, no glass should ever go on an original painting, and there needs to be holes punched in the back dust covering as well so the painting can breathe....if there's no air flow on the front and back the painting will mold.

Any suggested reading for researching how to do this properly? And any suggestions for quality places in the New Hampshire area?

I used Michael's (chain arts/crafts store) in the past to frame my diplomas, I can't recall much of the details when I did that. You have me worrying about that now lol

  4. My purple copy has it but you have to hop the needle over a locked groove in order to get it to play. By the way, while we're talking about "Slow Death" and to shift the conversation a little more towards the content of the album and not so much about the LP's variable physical attributes weight/color/height/presidential-electiblity/etc., I want to say that I think "Slow Death" might be my favorite track on the album. The album is great but this song is so different and so sexy and fuckin' like 70's Soul style and weird that I can't believe its Uncle Acid (except for when you hear the vocal). I really love that they flirted with that style for this track. Its just killer and I love that its a long one.

Yeah it's a great song. Overall I like this more than Mind Control, but Blood Lust remains my favorite.

edit: I'd love a tour copy as well, please PM me if you have a chance to get one. I am good for my word that I will pay for it (I'm in the US).

I'm going to the Bangor Bullmoose on Friday, if they have an extra green edition and anyone is looking for one, PM me.

Thanks very much for the link. Did it sell out, it says "item not available at this time"

Someone was talking about poor quality jackets earlier is the US green jacket as good as the ones from Rise Above/imports ?
