This is the coolest vinyl playback setup I've ever seen. James Murphy from LCD Soundsystem helped put it all together.
http://zumic.com/2013/10/30/mini-doc-explores-james-murphys-despacio-project/
McIntosh amps, custom speakers... unfortunately they don't talk about the turntable and needle cartridge hardware, but you'd think it's probably pretty good stuff they're using. If I lived in England, I'd definitely try to check it out.

One of the better things Fuse Television produces:
http://zumic.com/2013/10/16/crate-diggers-dives-into-rjd2s-vinyl-collection/
Amazing collection. RJD2 is one of the best DJ / producers out there in my opinion. Pretty funny when he talks about DJ Shadow and the "drum-break illuminati." I have the same attitude when it comes to buying random used records for historical value.

I would pass on this as well.
Bad Religion "Christmas Songs" out October 29th:

It is absolutely amazing that the guy winning this is someone that fully intends to release these rarities to the world.
Yeah, that's pretty cool. $23 for a calendar + CD isn't bad, either.

Most of the writers at Spin are complete idiots. Vinyl has much better clarity than CDs, especially at loud volume. Of course, it depends on mastering, but I trust this record will be mastered properly.
-
Technically, this is probably shellac and not vinyl... but still interesting.
If anybody has old Paramount blues records, you should contact this guy!

This is pretty hilarious. Jimmy Fallon goes through some vintage vinyl records and breaks down how bad they are. As a crate digger myself, I often find myself laughing at these types of records and occasionally picking them up for a cheap laugh.

Just heard about this today. I guess I have no choice but to go to opening night. Tix are a little expensive, but I'm actually dying to see Tame Impala. I'll try to pick up 1-2 extras for you guys. Not trying to make any money, just break-even to help out some true fans.

Very cool interview with Arcade Fire's Win Butler on BBC Radio with Zane Lowe. The Arcade fire section starts at 1:02:54. After an introduction and interview section, they play the single, “Reflektor,” then the interview resumes at 1:10:54 and concludes at 1:19:16:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b039p7kr
"It's longer than The Suburbs, it's a double record. Mostly down to the fact that the songs are a lot longer. I mean, Reflektor is 7 and a half. There is another couple 7 minute songs on the record, and so it made sense to do 2 records. It's really 2 distinct sides. It's a classic double-LP kind of vibe, where you have to flip the side and it takes you to another place."
ALL ABOUT THE VINYL! I LOVE IT!

$19.98 for a double-LP is pretty good these days. Especially for the high quality vinyl that they will probably put out. I've seen new vinyl single LPs selling for $20+ because the margins just aren't what they used to be. Still, shipping is a bitch... They should have put a card in each vinyl package with a unique ticket pre-sale code, so local record stores would still be a part of it and fans wouldn't have to pay absurd shipping costs.

This is great, thanks for the link!

The interactive video is pretty amazing. The music video is also really good:

If the first single comes out on a 12" that means the full album has got to be a double-LP, right?
-
Really like this song, don't think I want to pay $10 for a single
I normally wouldn't pay $10 for a single either... but I really love that artwork so I might have to do it...

LEAKED AUDIO!!! 7+ minutes long. David Bowie joins around the 5 minute mark. Pretty cool.

Maybe it's a big surprise and it will end up being the full album, only available on special LP about 6 weeks before the real release date.
Okay, probably not.
I've been thinking about that possibility. Seems unlikely, but I'm into it. These elaborate marketing campaigns and leaks are getting old. Just give us the music already.

Very interesting. I love the fact that Amoeba is having a listening party. $9.99 would be the right price.
Just went to Amoeba's site and found this page:
Arcade Fire is releasing a very limited 12" single from their upcoming album, Reflektor (due out October 29 on Merge Records). The "Reflektor" 12" will be available for sale at Amoeba Hollywood, San Francisco and Berkeley on Monday, September 9 at 6pm.
Quantities are very limited so it's first come first served, limit one copy per customer and you must be in the store to purchase it.No phone orders, online sales or holds allowed.
We'll also be playing the new single at Amoeba on Monday, 9/9 at 6pm so come down to the store for a chance to hear the new track before anyone else.
In typical Arcade Fire, mum's the word when it comes to everything about the release and the 12" single. Artwork for the 12" has surfaced online, but we can't confirm yet that this is accurate. To further complicate the mystery, the back cover also features a track listing of 14 songs. But it is reportedly just another trick by the band. We'll all have to wait and see on Monday!
3 stores in Canada and none in NYC is pretty lame. Hopefully they add some places to the map before Monday! -

Pretty brilliant to put 4 songs on each vinyl side. The full record is about 51 minutes in length, which is def too long for 1 vinyl disc. I actually only realized this when I started reading through this thread. Thanks!
FYI, they just released the album as a free SoundCloud stream in advance of the release. Listen here:

Y'all like Amos Lee? He just released this awesome music video for "I'm The Man Who Wants You" that goes through all the steps of pressing and cutting a record. Pretty sweet:
