They've gotta be aware of the bad taste the last mix left in everyone's mouths.
They will make up for this oversight. I have faith.
-
Album is officially out November 10.
I'll be picking one up when I see them live in Toronto that week. Fucking stoked for this gig, no matter how unimpressed I was with the previous mix they always kill it live, and they're playing the Mod Club no less.
Also, it's pretty much guaranteed there is a new mix (or likely re-recordings) for this release.
-
Limited to 900?!
http://www.recordstoreday.com/SpecialRelease/7565
I'm hoping that will change, but seriously why would they limit this release so much? It's already hard enough to get a hold of Exmilitary for a decent buck.
Also, note the whole "Packaged with a replica of the stamped California license plate featured on the cover". Sounds like the band has zero input with this release. And wasn't there a super high res version of the art with the FLAC version they could have used?
And what the fuck "regional release"?! RSD has become such a joke. Might as well say "fuck you Canada".
I want this record

Ordered mine from here: http://www.gibertjoseph.com/singer-s-grave-a-sea-of-tongues-barely-regal-vinyle-6148767.html
I'm very well versed in French and I cannot find a single price anywhere on this link. I don't feel like giving them my email just to find out what the shopping cart reads....soooooo how much did it cost from Gilbert Joseph?
(Edit: errr I'm guessing it means it's no longer available....)
Also, is this the cover of Barely Regal?
-
There are still 2 covers on the vinyl that were not iTunes.
And that's what burns the most
-
There's one right now on Discogs for 70 bucks. Give it a couple of weeks. It'll be easily available. Same thing happened with the self-titled album last year. Took a few weeks but soon became regularly available for as little as $17.
That's what I was thinking, but I caved and bought the regular release today because I'm impatient.
I'll just have to continue being Regal on my iPod for now
-
Still no luck on Barely Legal at my locals. Was thinking about going with the Ameoba link but was waiting cause of stupid $15 Canadian shipping, and now it's sold out.......
Any other links out there (Edit:) at a similar price?
EDIT2: HA. "Barely Legal". A little Freudian slip on my part methinks

Oh, and I heard this album is re-workings, Nashville style, like Greatest Palace.
Shame, I was really starting to like the idea of a live version of Wolfroy.
-
Also just noticed this on the domino site:
Some sort of variant / special edition?
Too bad there's no word of it on the Drag City site. And it's "out of stock" somehow.
-
tracklist posted over at Domino...
couple repeaters in heremost of these songs have identical titles to, or are references to, Wolfroy songs. any thoughts as to if they'll be reworkings or completely different versions? perhaps different songs with the same titles? an error of a tracklist?01. Night Noises02. So Far and Here We Are03. There Will Be Spring04. Quail and Dumplings05. We Are Unhappy06. It's Time To Be Clear07. Whipped08. Old Match09. Mindlessness10. Mew Black Rich (Tusks)11. Sailor's Grave A Sea of SheepThis track list makes me insanely excited for this release. I'm guessing by the titles they are more reworkings. And that is always very welcome.
Still kinda wanted another LP of new tunes though, especially after the brilliance of the past few solo outings.
-
Whoa. New LP made it to my door in less than two days. Gotta be a record. Didn't realize they are based out of Kitchener though, so that makes sense. Last time I ordered from PL it took a few weeks and the LPs had been available for some time.
But damn does this album give me chills. Can't wait to let it soak in.
-
I feel like it resembles the Gayngs remixes much more than the actual LP
-
Nice. I guess that total price (for the Canadian edition) includes the shipping? Hope so, cause $31 is already a little more than I wanted to spend.
Either way at least I got the coloured edition this time.
-
I'm really diggin' the vibe here. Sounds a lot grimier / funkier than Gayngs, but definitely a similar vein. Will be picking this one up for sure. That pic of Carey with the egg roll is glorious http://cdn2.pitchfork.com/advance/art/1153/f4eb02cf.jpg

Is that LIP from SSD colored? Or again the first 2500 are colored
I'm 99% positive Life is Peachy from SSD is the previously released black MOV version. I think the colored versions are coming down the line
-
This show I could throw on halfway through an ep and not really care.
I think last night's episode proves this is the wrong way to approach this show.
-
Some people think they were scooped up by a bigger label (Ipecac) and everything is on hold until they can release the album. A lot of people were complaining about the final mix, so there's speculation that the mix is being redone as well.
Pretty sure this is on the mark. If not Ipecac then a label equally worthy.
I found the early single mixes were superior to the finals, at least on "People Forget". It even seems that Cedric re-recorded many of the vocal parts. Annnd they've clearly got a lack in funds on this project so a deal will most certainly need to be made before any physical stuff comes at us.
And how about some speculation?? Anyone else notice a big gap in Juan's Deltron schedule? They've just played their last show until November meaning Juan is free and clear for Antemasque's August jaunt. I mean he's basically the only piece left of the puzzle.
Also, those shows next month are going to rip.

In case anyone was still looking for this, it's been up since at least last fall on Shirt Killer.

You can even get a Tee combo pack.
I'm new here to VC, I otherwise would have posted this a while ago before others paid far too much. The Amoeba link has been sold out for some time and I'm pretty sure this is the only place left to grab this. Anywhere.
This is an incredible BPB record.

Super glad to snag a copy of this, really diggin this band as of late
-
Kinda wish they had pressed Gov. Plates though.
I have faith this will eventually see the light of day. It's my fave of their records, it must happen.

The whole "buy all three tracks and get the album when it's released" thing never panned out for me. I remember reading that if you bought all three tracks from the same service than you would get your album download on July 1. Then they released Drown Your Witches and I couldn't buy it without buying the previous three tracks together.
Then July 1 came and went, and after waiting three days I had to download the fucking record from torrents.
Why do they even bother with these flaky "incentives" if they're not available to everyone? (I live in Canada and bought my tracks through iTunes Canada, so who knows).
I have a feeling they will tour heavily for this release to make up for the sufficient lack of Nocturniquet shows.
Either way the album kills and I can't wait to see it live, and spin the wax. -
Caught them live in Ottawa last summer...such a rippin show even without Zach.
I'm now kicking myself extra hard for passing up a copy of Exmilitary I found in Montreal a couple years ago. It was $16, and I already had $100 worth of stuff to buy in my hands. "I'll find it another time" I thought. Now Amazon lists $700, ebay etc at $275.
1000% ballz
