  1. I have a vpi scout 1.1 2mblack, rogue cronus magnum ii and kef ls50s. this is a flat out brilliant sounding setup, which punches way above its weight class. I compared the magnum 1 to the 2 and the noise floor is significantly reduced compared to the first iteration. however, the remote for magnum II is cheap black plastic, vs a solid block of aluminum for magnum I.

  2. I run Kef LS50s, my amp is a Rogue Cronus Magnum II and my turntable is a Vpi Scout with a 2m black cartridge. The Kef LS50s sound absolutely incredible under this setup - amazingly clear mids and highs with bass that makes you wonder if you accidentally turned your subwoofer on. I listen to tons of electronic/rock/indie/folk/whatever and these speakers can do it all. They run circles around any other speaker when properly driven, this includes the R300 which I auditioned. If you can put a quality source and power to the LS50s, they won't leave you wanting for more.

  3. i had a rega rp40 that i traded in toward a vpi scout 1.1 I would not recommend the RP3. Speed stability was an issue, it ran fast at 33.5-33.7 with its own "tuned" outboard speedbox, no easy way to tweak speed, and the elys40 cartridge just did not sound good. There was horizontal movement when you dropped the needle so that it would never cue where you wanted it to, this was not an issue with the antiskate. The table felt very light and "cheap" (this is a personal opinion, rega on purpose makes decks with a light weight plinth, this is part of the design) but overall my technics sl1200 felt much better built, and honestly sounded just as good with a shure m97xe.

However, since buying the Scout, I have no longer even been searching for a new turntable. It is a phenomenal piece of kit, extremely well built and sounds incredible. Hope this helps.
