Solid seller!!! Buy his stuff.

Items insured by the pound?! Surely not. I'm glad to know this, that being the case I'd follow SaviorSelfs idea and the movers wouldn't handle a damn thing of value. Man I find this hard to believe. Sorry you're going through this OP.

This is the release in question...

I'm beginning to think the better course of action here would've been to start a thread in general discussion over determining value, and how folks typically handled a difference in value in a trading situation. I certainly don't want folks to get the wrong impression here, in that I'm only interested in "the money." Each person is of course going to value things differently. It probably would've helped if I provided more detail on what I was looking for, ie OG copies, condition, etc. I agree with you shadowkid, I'd have no issue leaving 5-10 bucks on the table trading off something I didn't really want for something I really wanted. I could've saved everyone time by being more specific, I see that now.
You say that Blink 182 album is about a 40 dollar record. How are you coming up with that number? Everywhere that I know to look shows 50 bucks all the way up to like 125. I understand the high side of that may be wishful thinking on the part of the seller, but 40? I'm not saying you're wrong, because I obviously don't know for sure, but if there's a different source to use for valuing other than ebay, discogs, and popsike I want to know! Would save me the trouble of looking like a jackass for expecting "ebay prices."
-
You've come to the wrong place if you're looking for eBay prices out of your records. Try posting these on Discogs or something. Maybe they'll sell for those prices and then you can go buy NIN records
Sorry, but other than telling me to buzz off and go somewhere else I'm not sure how this helps. I'm trying to understand the process here. Do people on this site just trade even up for albums regardless of any difference in value? I'd be surprised if that's the case, but if it is I'd like to know that so I know what direction to go in the future. I know I'm the FNG around here, but I don't intend on being a fly by night album flipper. I'd like to stick around and become a member of this community, but maybe I shouldn't if I'm going to be told to go elsewhere?
-
Part of my problem is I really have no idea what the value of these albums are. Excuse my ignorance, but how do we handle that? I've looked at them on discogs and ebay and been trying to base their values off of that. I'm happy to trade for albums of similar value, but would rather not trade something that goes for 80-100 bucks for something that's worth ~30. Thoughts?

HOW DO YOU OLD PEOPLE LISTEN TO SO MUCH TEENY-BOPPER SHIT!?
lol exactly.

I have copies of the albums listed below, looking to trade for NIN albums / singles.
Blink 182 - Dude Ranch translucent orange
Blink 182 - Enema of the State white
Blink 182 - Take off your pants tri color
Let me know yall! Happy to provide pics if necessary...

Were you trying to say
The player isn't capable of accessing the full complexity and depth of the record.
I dunno, maybe he's got a different perspective here? Maybe with his taste in music he appreciates equipment that attenuates?
-
Well shit...looks like I may just be that out of touch. I expected after school hours for the teenagers to show up. Guess I was wrong. lol

most of my friends are my age or older and they're all bitter about it
I'm certainly not bitter about it, but all of the cliches about getting older that you always thought were just older people bitching do start happening. Needing to save for retirement, time flying by, kids growing up faster than you could imagine...it's all true.

It's probably for another topic...but I was curious about the optimism comments...

Thanks all for the bday wishes by the way.

22. youngest so far, but I know younger peeps exist!
Kinda why I asked. Been lurking around here for a while. I'm obviously very much so out of touch. Wasn't sure if this place was infested with hipsters, 15 year olds, or whether I'm just that out of touch.

I'm still new, but I was shocked when I found out some members have very little used vinyl in their collection. That is a huge part of collecting records for me - I've lost count of how many of my favourite recent albums have been picked up for next to nothing in local fairs/bargain bins etc.
I concur. I'm certainly not opposed to buying new vinyl, but when I can score good clean stuff for a buck an album I'll do that every time.

Real age or the age I am in my head?
Real age 45, the age I am in my head is very dependant on how much alcohol I have consumed but is never higher than 31
Could go with both I suppose. Physical and mental age, but would prefer folks provide both just so we know what we're workin with.
-
Just curious...what's the average age around here? Me, I just turned 37 today.
-
The player isn't capable of attenuating the full complexity and depth of the record.
Huh?

I'm always amazed, and a little (a lot??) jealous, at you guys that score these amazing deals. Granted, I've not put myself out there much to find them, but I hear and read about them all the time and it's maddening. You hear about these vinyl scores guys get at goodwill and other thrift stores. I've started hitting them up and all I find is literally junk. I suppose it doesn't help that I'm getting back into vinyl after it's already gotten hot.
Regardless, congrats on your score. That is an incredible find.

Bob did you ever find a copy of this? I know this thread is ancient, but I think I may have found a copy and would be interested in selling it...
