I know it sounds blasphemous, but I don't open a fair amount of vinyl. It's not all just about listening to them, it can be about the artwork or just about supporting the band.
And hell, do you see what unopened bottles of Surge go for on eBay?!
-
if you collect a "sealed" variant LP, and it's really black, but you never open to check, do you have a variant or a black?
Why do you consider black not a variant?
-
I've got some unopened vinyl I was thinking of selling off. No idea what variants they are, and discogs says all the barcodes are the same. Should I open them to check? or sell unopened?
Thanks!

Just got my jackets, absolutely gorgeous.. Thanks again man, awesome job

Got an email back from Merchnow on my mixed up tests and they want me to send my LTLHLU tests back to them and are hoping everyone else will send their's in too and they'll fix it up. I have a feeling this is just going to be an unfixable process. How many people do you think are actually going to play the presses or notice if they weren't on this Board? The only reason I thought to check was because I saw someone else say they had the issue, otherwise the tests would have just gone on the shelf and I'd spin the regular copy.
My thoughts exactly.
We should all tell merchnow to send an email to everybody that bought test presses to check. After all, it is their error. So what do we have so far? 3 people with extra C/D's and nobody with extra A/B's right? I've got a feeling something's f'd up royally
-
I have no idea why I checked this but I'm glad I did:
I received two C/D sides and no A/B for my test pressing of LTLHLU, though the writing on the sleeve says otherwise. I just emailed merchnow about it... I'm assuming someone here got two A/B's

Understandable. So andrewlucas.. Did you print the jackets with /20 on them?
-
"Accepted" means the record label has accepted the quality of the record from the manufacturer. Yes. Each title was limited to 20 test presses.
So why does it say "of 25"?
-
Does the fact that they're "accepted" mean that they are exactly the same mix as the released versions?
And weren't they limited to 20??
-
USPS tracking says I'll have my test presses today.. I'll take some pics if anyone's interested
-
Did you order both albums?
Yep
-
Got my shipment notification.. PUMPED!

By the way,
I wouldn't mind at all if you credited yourself somehow
"Jacket crafted by Andrew Lucas" or whatnot

Looks incredible man, good work!
I've got both test pressings coming, so I'll gladly buy both. Just let me know where to send the $$

If you can't tell the difference, does the difference matter?
As I stated, I would like to be sure before opening the vinyl. Are you suggesting I'm supposed to be able to tell a 30g difference in hand?
Honestly, I doubt I would be able to hear a difference anyway. But I want what I paid for.

I got my replacement in the mail today, they shipped it like a tank! Question before I open it: is it a possibility this is NOT the 180g version? And how would I know? Would the SKU# be different?
Thanks for any help
-
Agreed, take my money. What about a non-gatefold jacket that can house 2LPs? Would that make things easier?

I've got both test pressings coming, would love to be a part of this jacket thing goin on!

Nope, not a troll.. I'm sure you guys have supported bands by purchasing their vinyl at a show. I have many times, some of them I have not listened to. Hence, unopened vinyl for sale.
