  1. Not a dumb question! It's set to 0 (I believe it goes to 10 in either direction). Obviously turning it down helps some, but I'm wondering why there's so much bass on the neutral setting. Thanks for the other replies, I'll try cleaning my stylus too. It is positioned fairly close to an alcove in my room (I'm a bit constrained for space right now). I'll also try repositioning and see how that goes on.
  2. Hello chaps! I have a really quick question. I recently upgraded my audio setup from a turntable (a lovely 80s Sony semi-auto) + Art Preamp + Harman Kardon powered speakers to the same turntable + Cambridge Audio Topaz AM10 amp (I'm not using a preamp right now, as the AM10 has an in-built phono stage + Gale Gold Monitor bookshelf speakers. While there was always a fair amount of bass in the old setup, I'm noticing even more in the new one, to the extent that it is almost unbearable to listen to LPs at higher levels. It seems that the lows are being over-amplified to the point where most are a very deep rumble. Does anyone know what could be wrong with my setup to be causing this? I'm not much of an audiophile, I just enjoy listening to my records, so any insight you might have would be really valuable. Thanks!
