  1. Well the description says 2 discs.... So I think I'll take a chance.
  2. I saw that the Madlib Shades of Blue was on sales for 13 bucks at Amazon. But right below it is a (2 vinyl) set that is 25 bucks?? What's the deal with these two versions? Are songs missing on the the 13 dollar record? Thanks!
  3. Well hopefully it will indeed ship in the first week of October I'm pretty excited to finally have a legitimate turntable. Maybe not on par with what you guys are rocking, but a BIG step up from my TTUSB
  4. Well I just ordered the U turn orbit with an upgraded cart. Couldn't justify 5 bills to listen in that tiny room. Pretty excited about it!!
  5. Cool! I have no need for A/B switching right now. So if I get that PP400 phono pre and the emotiva knob I'm good to go? Another thing. I only have 1/4 and XLR on back of my speakers. Would RCA to 1/4" cable be fine to use? Or should I get the RCA female to 1/4male adapter and just plug RCA into that? Thanks so much for the help. About to order that Orbit basic with upgraded cart
  6. Thanks for those links! So the emotiva, I come out of the phono amp, into the cables of the emotiva. Then plug the other two emotiva cables into my speaker? The Schiit passive pre, that doesn't act as a phono pre amp does it? If so that would be sweet! It say no electronics so I'm not sure how it amplifies my TT signal? Thanks!!!
  7. Looking at that art dj, can I really use that gain knob as an overall volume control? If I crank the gain to make the music louder instead of turning the speakers up from the back, isn't that a different animal? Or I'm overthinking? Let's see if I can be clearer LOL! So if my levels are good on the phono pre but my volume isn't loud enough for my liking, I'd still need to go behind the speakers vs cranking the gain on the ART and risking clipping/distortion etc?
  8. Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I'm stuck reaching behind the speakers. Small price to pay to not have to purchase a receiver! These are really nice powered speakers so I'll stick with them for dual purpose for now
  9. This may be a totally stupid question. I'm looking to buy the U turn Orbit Basic table and a basic phono pre amp. Is the only volume control I'll have on the speakers themselves? Would kind of suck to have to go behind both speakers everytime I want a volume adjustment. Thanks!!
  10. You know what, I think I may just do that. That Orbit basic looks really nice. With an AT95e cart added it comes out to $204 before shipping. I'll keep the TTUSB for production purposes and use the orbit for my listening. My set up would have to be a phono pre mounted under my desk with RCA to 1/4" TS cables into my powered Yamaha HS-5 speakers. I can't really afford to drop 4 bills on a Project Debut right now (And I'd still need a pre). I'd rather put that money into my collection. And by the reviews i've read the Orbit is more than good enough for a starter table, and CERTAINLY better than this TTUSB! What say you?
  11. Thanks for that link. Now I'm considering the u turn orbit for 180 bucks. That thing is sexy. Safe on my nice records? If I go that route, I'd just use that for my "listening" and keep the TTUSB around for bringing vinyl into my audio software for production purposes. I don't mind this table for my dollar thrift store vinyl
  12. Well I have a professional a/d converter in use in my studio that has 1/4" inputs. However that still leaves me needing a 50 dollar phone pre amp. 4 bills for the project plus 50 for the pre leaves me 50 short of the project USB which would be much cleaner looking. That's why I'm thinking the lp120. Its got pretty decent reviews. That table won't screw up my good vinyl right? I plan on using rca to 1/4" cables to plug into my studio monitors as those don't have an rca connection on the back. And I'll use the USB when bringing in samples to chop when I produce. Thoughts? That table is good for my records with the at95e cart? Thanks again!
  13. OK well I did a ton of research last night and I think I'm gonna go with the lp 120. I need the USB connectivity for when I sample. The project is beautiful but at 500 bucks I'll have to pass. Will the 120 with the at95e cart be kind to my nice records?
  14. Hey everyone, I've been lurking on these boards for a bit but decided to sign up. Here's my situation. I live in a small two bedroom apartment. I also produce music, mostly sample based. My turntable is set up in the second bedroom where I have my studio. I've been using a Numark TT USB to bring in my vinyl samples because I'm poor and can't really afford an expensive table. I also listen to my favorite records in here as I have some nice studio monitors. The way my set up is now, I run my TTUSB into my audio interface, record arm a track in Ableton Live, and I can listen to my vinyl. My questions, Will the TTUSB ruin my really nice records that I buy specifically for listening? It's been bothering me lately as I've dove deeper into these forums. Most of the vinyl I sample from is from thrift shops/flea markets/etc... not stuff I'd listen to for the fun of it. If the TTUSB will ruin my records will a simple needle swap fix that? And why would it ruin the records, I don't know much about the mechanics of turntables. I don't have room in here for a receiver and I'm already set up with an audio interface. I've been looking at the Project Carbon with a USB out as that would be perfect for this room. Is that table built any differently than the highly recommended project carbon without the USB out? Sorry for all the questions, but now that I'm no longer "ignorant" the questions have been popping up like mad! I don't want to spam the board with my music, but if it's OK to post my bandcamp page let me know and I'll post a link Thank you all in advance! Great site! I never would have known John Nolan put out a record of unreleased acoustic songs if I never found this place!!
