  1. Hey dudes, I haven't dropped in here in a little while! Got some catching up to do. I just dropped a new boxset, collecting three previously released tapes and a new set of recordings from my own project, White Fir. It's somewhere around the world of folk/noise/drone/modern-classical/field recordings/etc. Side A of the 3rd tape has production and arrangement assistance from Sean McCann so that can probably give you some idea of what at least that tape is like. I've only made 30 of these sets and it's acting as sort of a fundraiser for a lathe project I'm working on. Anyway, you can stream the whole thing at Bandcamp and you can read more on the website and all that. Please do check it out! P.S. also still have a very small amount of copies left of recent tapes from Asheville folk singer Wes Tirey and Chicago noise/sound-artist Troy Schafer
  2. Dropped three new Cabin Floor Esoterica tapes Friday evening! Aggressive compact musique concrete from Troy Schafer (Madison, WI), avant-leaning folk from Wes Tirey (Black Mountain, NC) and a minimal organ piece to soundtrack Chris Marker's La Jetée by øjeRum (Copenhagen, DK) $6 plus shipping, digital downloads included www.cabin-floor-esoterica.com or cabinflooresoterica.bandcamp.com
  3. They did go (pleasantly) quick! Steven's discography is definitely worth diving into if you like the sound of that sample. He actually just had a new record released a few days ago on Soft Abuse under the name Ulaan Markhor: https://worstward.bandcamp.com/album/spiral-horns-black-onions-et-al He also records under his own name Steven R. Smith, Ulaan Passerine, and Ulan Khol
  4. Hey ya'll - I don't know if any of ya are Steven R. Smith fans but I just dropped a big ol' 5 tape boxset covering the complete Hala Strana discography. There's only 50 of them (no distro and Steven won't be selling any through his website) and more than half are already gone. If you want one you can head over to cabin-floor-esoterica.com If you don't know Hala Strana (or Steven R. Smith's other work) get on it:
  5. I didn't notice that the thread had gone to the next page because I had the tab open a while, my bad.
  6. Anyone break down and buy some of those Burger x Light in the Attic tapes? I really wanted to get some but really can't justify $82 for 6 tapes shipped.
  7. The two pumpkin beers I like are nothing like most pumpkin beers: Almanac Heirloom Pumpkin Barleywine (aged in rye and brandy barrels for a year) and Jolly Pumpkin La Parcela.
  8. Hey all, I'm new here - had to join once I saw this thread! I'm slowly reading through the whole thing (on page 30 or so right now) but I couldn't resist jumping in. Here's (most) of my current collection: It used to be a much larger collection but I've had to let some things go over the years through moves and needing to sell off some things. Most I've ever paid for a tape was probably $25 each for Wooden Wand's Harem of the Sundrum. My favorite labels going right now are: Winebox Press - largely electro-acoustic improv/avant-folk in beautiful handmade wooden packaging. Recently released a killer 4 tape boxset of field recordings from the Caucaus people. Outta the UK and the boxes are heavy so can be a bit pricey, unfortunately. Totally worth it, though. http://thewholevoyald.blogspot.com/ Ambivalent Soap - noise, Fahey-style guitar, etc. Currently only available through distro occasionally (Tomentosa) or the artists because the guy that runs it mostly just gives everything away to friends. Full disclosure: he's releasing a tape of mine soon. http://www.ambivalentsoap.com/ And even though I just found out about it today, I'm really psyched about Astral Spirits outta Texas bringing the modern jazz world to cassettes. The Icepick tape (Nate Wooley, Chris Corsano, Ingebrigt Haker-Flaten) sounds bonkers. Can't wait for my package to arrive. http://monofonuspress.com/astral-spirits Lastly, I started a label back in '09 called Cabin Floor Esoterica. Music is typically of the "strange" variety. I only have one tape in stock right now (and only a few copies left) but it's a real killer collaboration between guitarist Tashi Dorji (whose debut LP was the inagural edition on Ben Chasny's Hermit Hut) and bassist Frank Meadows. Currently working on a massive 5 tape boxset covering the complete recordings of Steven R. Smith's Hala Strana project. Anyway, you can check things out at the links in my signature.
