  1. So, I, wanting to get into vinyl more, busted out my uncle's old turntable to attempt to use it. Sadly, however, I discovered that it's needle/cartridge/whatever the proper term is happens to be in need of replacement. Firstly, before I get anymore into this, please excuse my ignorance on turntables. I am very new to them and wish to learn as much as I can, so I beg you to be as descriptive as possible and any advice would be appreciated. Anyways, the turntable is a Technics SL-D3. I've heard it is a fairly good/decent starter turntable, and that's more than fine with me seeing as my other options were ultra low-budget turntables. The cartridge previously in it was a "Shure 6x". The needle (or whatever the proper term is, please enlighten me!) is damaged on it. If that's replaceable by itself instead of replacing the entire cartridge I would be intrigued, unless it is a fairly intermediate task. I've found this, which looks strikingly similar to the Shure 6x, but due to my ignorance on the subject I'm afraid it won't work. Basically, the shorter version of all of this: Will this work with a Technics SL-D3? I realize, assuming it does, it likely won't be the best option, but I am on a very tight budget and would prefer the replacement be as cheap as possible without risking damage to my vinyl. Thank you all, I appreciate the help, and once more, please be as descriptive as possible as to better educate me on the subject. P.S. If pictures are needed of the current stylus or anything else, please ask and I'll try to get them as soon as possible!
