  1. So many different companies releasing the same Bob Dylan titles. Modern Times: Columbia $16.99 MOV $39.99 (!) Which one delivers the best sound quality? MOV claims they use analog tape when they can get it, but is it safe to assume these LP's are all from Digital? Also, Oh Mercy released by Music on Vinyl ($34.99) and also released by 4 men w/beards ($21.99) Which one delivers the best sound quality? Thanks
  2. Anyone have the Kinks Velvel release LP's? I assume they were cut from Hi-res digital- correct? I am really looking for Kinks late 70's - early 80 stuff.. (Low budget, GPWTW, State of confusion, etc.) I found the velvel Vinyl releases- but can not find any reviews or comments on pressing quality. thanks
  3. Back into vinyl. I have noticed a few "limited" release re-issues are listed as awaiting repress. (The Doors Box set at Music Direct is an example of this) If the release is truly limited to 2500 copies.....why is there a repress in the works?
  4. Good points. Been thinking and calculating the cost over time. You're right. I tell myself I'll live with the stock Traveler/Jr for at least a year or two and then I'll upgrade.....but I know I'll get the itch after a few months. Might as well - save a bit more and step up out of the gate vs paying more down the line.
  5. There is a shoot out video on youtube between the Nomad and the Jr. at sound stage direct. The VPI rep is asked about sound sig between Jr and Traveler and he claims the traveler will best the Jr out of the box, but the Jr. is upgrade friendly. I'm thinking go Scout Jr - break it in 4-6 months- then add the classic platter. (And upgrade the cartridge- which will be done regardless of the table) I just can't find much about real world Scout Jr experience out there.
  6. So many choices from VPI. Scout 1.1, Scout jr, Scout 2, nomad, traveler... Budget is about $1500. So I'm thinking about the Traveler or the Scout Jr. The Jr looks like a higher end piece of gear, but most of what I research claims the traveler is actually the better table out of the box. Is the upgrade path worth it on a Scout Jr? Or is a better solution- go with traveler for a year or two and then simply trade in and up to the classic line?
