  1. Yikes. I realize I may catch some heat for prolonging this topic, but I'll try to give it a clean break. This is just an anecdote. I thought this was an appropriate forum for it, but I was wrong. I'll stick to posts about new releases (though they're usually posted already by the time I hear about them). As for why the damage even matters, when the records still play fine - just like denting a new car. Does it matter? Of course not. Does it suck? Of course.
  2. I brought in a bunch (over 100) of my older records to my local record shop for trade-in credit today, and picked up the following records in exchange (all new): Jesca Hoop - The House That Jack Built Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me Zero 7 - Simple Things The Kills - Ash & Ice Led Zeppelin - 1st (self-titled), 3-album special edition Tangerine Dream - Ricochet Beth Orton - Trailer Park Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane... Get out of the store, walk 10 paces and the bag handle breaks. Since I was carrying the bag ON MY SHOULDER they all fell from high up, and landed on the sidewalk. Crushed the bottom right corner of every single record. Every. Single. One. This was one of those re-usable shopping bags that I'm sure has held gallons of milk at a time in the past, and chooses today to break. vinyl are fine. Listening now, with some tears in my beer.
  3. Not sure how long ago this was announced, but I've just found out about it myself. Due out September 30, available on standard black and limited blood red (menstruation red?) vinyl. This is on Sacred Bones, but there will apparently be a Su Tissue version released also, likely in Norway like the Su Tissue 'Apocalypse, Girl' was. The preorders are currently only available for the Sacred Bones versions at the moment. No mention of numbers, but the 'Apocalypse, Girl' Su Tissue release was limited to 300. I expect the Su Tissue release is also somewhat limited, due to it only being made available in Norway (or via mail order from a record shop in Norway for the rest of us). Rough Trade is always a good bet for Canada, price-wise: http://www.roughtrade.com/albums/104363 Also available from Norman Records, Sacred Bones, and a bunch of other places online.
  4. Yeah, something weird on the site. This will add the bundle directly with orange vinyl (30 bucks): http://www.scdistribution.com/cart-add.php?action=add_to_cart&catalog=JAG277xbnd01&quantity=1&format=Bundle And 18 bucks for the regular ol' black: http://www.scdistribution.com/cart-add.php?action=add_to_cart&catalog=JAG277lp&quantity=1&format=2xLP April is shaping up to be amazing.
  5. I'm honestly surprised that this is still in stock at fatbeats, but it's a great album and 300 is a pretty small run. The pressing quality is also quite good, IMHO. http://www.fatbeats.com/products/roots-manuva-bleeds-lp-colored-vinyl
  6. Great sounding record, featuring (among others) appearances by members of Foxy Shazam. From bandcamp: The splatter variant has already sold out and these metallic silver records are moving quickly as well - this is a one-time-only "deluxe" pressing of this record, complete with a die cut cover, underlying mirror board with a screen printed back as well as a 12 page lyric booklet inside. Hand numbered out of 219 copies! A few of the metallic still left, for those quick on the trigger. http://mindovermatterrecords.bandcamp.com/album/the-skulx
  7. This just made my week. And it's Christmas, that should say how awesome this news is.
