  1. I kept seeing folks sell massive collections, and couldn't help it. There is even a "make an offer" thing on almost all of my items, so if my price seems high (a lot of them are) just make a reasonable offer and I'll probably accept it.

Anyone else use discogs for selling? I've bought random stuff on there, but never used it for selling. Already sold a dozen records (in a week and a half). Totally pumped.

  3. owned a few og copies over the year, the represses sound just as good, and have never demanded the 50+ price tag the originals do.

I loved that the nirvana 7" was included in the 7" set because it meant I could have that Jesus Lizard song without paying the stupid ebay price it demands solely based on a sub-par nirvana song. Also it shouldn't have been $100 at any record store, that's just ridiculous. I think a few stores still have these and they're never more than 50

  4. - Will it be impossible to find TA - Parting, Copeland - In Motion, The Starting Line EPs, etc. in 5 years?

most of the stuff people on here love will be super cheap in 5 years. Markets drop out on stuff, and this stuff isn't going to be the exception. I think it will drop harder than it did with other genres because more people own 5-10 copies of a record, so when they decide to sell, there are instantly more copies flooding the market. Now imagine 20 people try to sell and that's the same as 150-200 people trying to sell 5 years ago.

anyone trying to put 6 copies of some chuck ragan record to pay for their kids college needs to go watch a video about collecting beanie babies.

  5. motherfuckers were okay with "preorders" from punk labels meaning you might see your records in the next 1-2 years.

Motherfuckers didn't complain when they sent cash through the mail, then prayed they might see records from someone.

Motherfuckers couldn't file paypal claims and get their money back because there was a slight bend in an lp jacket, you were just psyched you got the lp in the mail at all.

Motherfuckers didn't start threads like this: http://vinylcollective.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=64196&start=0

They were just psyched the records they wanted were available at all.

Collecting different versions of records hadn't taken on the douche level it has.

    these words: variants, colorways, vinyl

  6. intimately connected with two relatively successful screen printing shops (one was the no idea! printer for years).

First off, it fucking sucks and both of them went through very very bad periods where they had to sell just about everything to survive, and work through all hours of the night. What everyone is saying about getting high schools etc. is exactly right, but what they haven't told you is that most high schools have that shit figured out already, and go to mostly the same few places and have for years. Consider finding the private schools, elementary schools (where parents don't stay involved as long, so leadership changes), "youth run organizations" etc.

Also, both of the shops made a lot of money printing for weirdo local businesses. I won't say exactly what, but the last shop that I hung around made a huge chunk of their money printing shirts for a porn company, and the other one prints a lot of offensive metal shirts for a possibly white power record label.

dont...end...up...just...doing...band...shirts. You'll shoot yourself in the foot.

  7. almost everything has been sent out. the post office was SLAMMED yesterday (they're closing the one that I normally go to) so I just bailed and am going to send stuff out Tuesday.

sorry for the delay, but I did send out almost everythinggggg last Monday and Tuesday.

Also folks that got records can attest, I do a solid job shipping stuff. I worked at and shipped records for Lunchbox Records for the last 5 years.
