Vinyl ain't cheap to press in/from Oz.
Kudos for doing this!! Awesome band.

I just got a reply. Shipping for one lp $45 and 2 $75... I like Bodyjar a lot, but that's a little too expensive for me
I assume thats the inclusive price not shipping alone, but yeah, unfortunately theres no surprises there. Australia Post is horrendously expensive to send vinyl overseas.

I'm betting Paal is stoked.
Hell yes!! I'v been trying to order this, but it's been not available to the EU for some reason untill it went up. Also emailed them about it, but no reply yet. So hopefully soon I can order this
have you tried [email protected]? ive emailed them a couple of times before and they've always got back to me really quickly.

btw the pressing is out of 300 total. 200 red, 100 black.

Also IMO this is the finest Aussie punk rock album ever. And it's fantastic to see it finally get a vinyl release. With the larger artwork you notice the snakeskin background on the cover a lot better. Top release
Totally agree. I was so stoked this got a vinyl release finally. I couldnt get my order in quick enough.

Yeah I'm no expert but from what I've seen, as if vinyl costs aren't crazy enough, when you add jacket printing it pushes up into insane territory. Knowing how much it costs for Oz labels to press I'm good with paying around $20 for LPs. I think the caveat on these 'vinyl price' threads is that they're talking about the US (I'm guessing). I'd kinda hope no one really thinks Oz labels can/should sell for $13-$15 just because its feasible to do it in the US.

But yeah, xtramile always seems to send records to me in either thin card or bubble mailers so they arrive with bent corners galore. Annoying.

Frank said on his forum that they're trying to rectify the UK and Ireland only restriction, saying it's a legal thing. I hope they find a way cos I soooo want a copy of this.

Bodyjar - No Touch Red
Can't wait for this one!!

Rainbo quoted over $1200 for shipping and dont seem willing to use anyone other than UPS so thats them out unfortunately.
Pirates Press said they dont have to use dmm and can plate from lacquers too. Anyone here ever done that with them?
GottaGroove are on the cards too. Their vinyl seems really nice.
-
Yeah took aaaaages to arrive, but such a great album.
-
Thanks for the reply! I emailed Rainbo and they replied saying "Our standard weight for 12” is between 138 and 143 grams." and that the next step up is 180 gram. Did you work out a deal with them for the 155-165g?

Guys, I'm hoping you can share some insight and opinions on recent vinyl quality coming out of the various plants.
I never know where most of the records I buy have been pressed but I always appreciate it when I get a more substantial record as opposed to a flimsy feeling one.
Any advice on which plants are pressing nice solid vinyl without having to go to 180g? Aside from the ones done by Pirates Press (which I love but Im not looking to go dmm) I thought the Dave Hause LP (from Gotta Groove?) felt pretty sturdy.

Who should I send an email to about this? I used the Kingsroad help form thing on their site but I'm not sure if that is going to the right people.
I did the same so hopefully they are the right people, or it gets to the right people.

No shipping confirmation here either.

Still no shipping confirmation here either.

Ordered, ordered, ordered. Frank is awesome.

Love this album. I'm pretty strapped for cash these days but quite happy to drop $26 on this one. Can't wait for it to arrive.

Got mine today. Packaged in a thin card mailer which is better than a postpack i guess but only just. Still provides no protection whatsoever but at least its a closer match to the size of the records. Bent corners and the vinyl has pushed through the bottom of the cover though... par for the course with xtra mile. Rarely do I get anything that's not damaged by the time it arrives in Oz.
I think I've given em more than enough chances now. Doubt very highly I'll order from them again. Should have waited and ordered this through KRM.

My box is sitting at the airport so now I have to try to get out there and pick it up. Not sure why KR allowed a PO Box delivery address if FedEx won't actually deliver to them. What a hassle.
