  1. Does anyone collect their bootlegs? I'd like to think I have every known one (minus YouTube rips), but the SLC show was one that I was unaware existed. Here are some of my favorite recordings:

(Note: These are links to the setlists, not the audio itself. PM me if you want the audio.)

Does anyone know of any bootlegs from last year's UK and Canadian jaunts? Also, has anyone ripped these shows?:

Brand New at Playa del Sol, Cherry Hill, NJ - 01/25/2002

Brand New at County Fair Entertainment Park, Medford, NY - 08/31/2002

Despite only being YouTube rips, the sound on them is decent enough to warrant their addition to my collection. I just haven't taken the time to rip them myself. This is the video of the Meow Meow show. The audio recording I have is separate from it.

  2. 7658-I005-1 or 7658-IOO5-1....I'm assuming it's I005 and not IOO5, but I could be wrong and then S-49579-8 and S-49579-9 (the 9 on side B or "The Chapstick" side is scratched out and an 8 etched in over it)

The first numbers match the ones on mine, but I need a magnifying glass for the rest of the numbers. Here's what I was able to make out verbatim:

    7658-I005-1(A) 13 365 5-495 18

    7658-I005-1(B) 8-49579 WE RAS

Obviously the b-side needs some work on the end because I doubt those are random letters. Will post again as soon as I find a magnifying glass.

  3. I don't know if this has been posted yet, but this was a message someone on AP.net received from the seller:

"proof of authenticity would be that the code that the pressing plants puts on the matrix of the record is the same as all other brand new lps you can find. so they are the same. they were found in storage at the pressing plant. we think that they made more white, which they shouldn't have, and kept them in un-labelled boxes. at this point we don't know how many of each color are actually out there. but only 2200 jackets were made, so it's still pretty rare.

    - iodinerecords"

I bought a copy last year, but haven't taken the time to compare with an "original" copy. Does someone own an original that would be willing to post that code?

  4. If it weren't for the lyrics this wouldn't be that bad of a song. However, the lyrics come off as awkward and juvenile -- even by Blink standards. It's better than "Up All Night", but that's not saying much.

For me, they've always been the kind of band where it took only a few listens to really get into their new material -- I've struggled to get into these first two tracks. Can't say I expected a lot from this release, but these songs have left me completely underwhelmed.

  5. You're the first person from the show that I've heard that from. I was in the "second row" between Jesse and Vin. Everyone around me seemed to be enjoying themselves and taking care of each other; especially given the water debacle.

I had no idea someone yelled "Hey Jesse, is anyone up?" until listening back to it though. Can't believe some people. It's almost as bad as the story I overheard earlier in the day about some girl in Allentown after the show going up to Jesse and asking for a picture. After he politely declined she had the nerve to ask him "well what about the nudes you took?".

  6. thanks man! We we're at the Messiah show... My wife was pretty stoked there is audio of all of it.

What's funny is that I thought during the show that they were recording it for a live album; and then I stumbled across this. Too good.

It was easily the best crowd I've been part of outside of the solo shows. The setlist was impeccable to top things off. Listening back to it is great, but I had no idea Jesse's voice was so raspy during the actual show. His vocals are much better on the Electric Factory recording.

  7. For those interested, these two Brand New bootlegs recently surfaced -- although, to be frank, calling them bootlegs is an insult. These could be released as live albums. They're soundboard recordings that have been professionally mixed and mastered.

I also recently took the time to break this Incubus bootleg up from a charity show they played in Chile last October. Again, calling it a bootleg is an injustice. It's a soundboard recording just like the Brand New ones that has been professionally mixed/mastered. Hope you enjoy.

  8. Nothing Gold was one of the first poppunk albums I ever bought, still brings back loads of memories of being 16.

Am I the only one who was somewhat disappointed with their latest effort? I find it to be, not bad, but their least good one. I hoped it to be as good as Situations.

It's definitely top heavy, but there on some solid tracks on there. Namely "Truck Stop Blues", "I'll Never Love Again", and "Heartless At Best".

I would love to see Catalyst and Coming Home get pressed as well as a NGCS repress.

  9. I definitely caved and bought one of these. I feel dirty.

What puzzles me is why the number available continues fluctuating. When I first checked their auction earlier this week they had 7 available -- when I bought mine last night there was only 1 available. Now it says there are 5 available. Seems fishy to me, ala Deja's second press.

What adds to the mystery is when I looked at their past auctions they had a number of YFW records listed.

  10. Agree.

This completes my collection of the both labels' pressings. Consider me stoked.

So you snagged one of those "gold" copies they had only on tour?

Yep, got one for $50, which I justified considering the prices it was originally going for on ebay and the fact that they were only selling it on their east coast tour. Didn't want to risk waiting for the band to go on tour again and potentially selling out of them before they ever came near me.
