  1. Yeah but what if it's a trailer park in a nice part of town???
  2. Just want to emphasize that I said the *most* I would spend on a pre-amp would be $150. I really don't want to spend that much, but would be willing to if it's going to make a significant difference in the quality of the output.
  3. Primarily it's space and cost considerations. I don't really have the shelf space in my current bedroom for large bookshelf speakers or a normal sized amplifier. And don't really have the $$$ right now to afford much more than what I'll be spending on the Rega and the pre-amp, so I'm going to have to build my system piecemeal, and make do with the tivoli system which I am borrowing/stealing from my bro.
  4. I am purchasing a Rega P1 and was wondering what you all recommend I use for a pre amp. I can't afford to spend hundreds of dollars on a pre amp, and unfortunately the system I am using it with (Tivoli Model 2 radio) doesn't have a phono stage. I guess the most I would spend on the pre amp would be $150 - if it's even necessary to spend that much. As you guys might be able to tell, I'm pretty new to this.
  5. My listening space is a 10x10 bedroom. No technical knowledge when it comes to electronics - basically I'm looking for something pretty small and low maintenence. I don't necessarily mind vintage gear though, provided it's affordable and easy to take care of.
  6. So I just moved to an area where I have access to record shops that sell vinyl and picked up some old favorites today. I love records but don't know the first thing about how to set up a decent soundsystem. I currently just listen to music through my computer. I get the idea through browsing through some old posts that the Rega P1 is the turntable to buy. But what about the rest of the system? I'm kind of a minimalist and was thinking about combining the Rega with the Tivoli Audio RadioWorks system (see here: http://www.tivoliaudio.com/product.php?productid=195&cat=267&page=1) However, I'm under the impression that system has no preamp/phono input. Is there any way to work around that with that system? What about some other setups? What do you guys reccomend? (Please keep in mind I'm working with a somewhat limited budget, and would ideally like to spend no more than $800 total including the price of the turntable)
