  1. "OI! THIS IS STREET PUNK"

    11" Compilation

Available for Pre-Order and Streaming Now!

An 11" Vinyl Compilation, with 11 BANDS/11 SONGS, to be released on 11/11/11 - Featuring Noi!se, The Old Firm Casuals, Harrington Saints, Sydney Ducks, Lower Class Brats, Control, Booze & Glory, 45 Adapters, Marching Orders, The Young Offenders, Knucklehead.

Can't say that every track is my cup of tea, but I do love me some Knucklehead, and I'm totally digging the Marching Orders, Young Offenders, and Sydney Ducks tracks.

  2. THE DOWNTOWN STRUTS

"Sail the Seas Dry (Extended Version)" on 10" Blue Vinyl.

Available for Pre-Order and Streaming Now!

Totally backing this band right now. Reminds me of One Man Army with a slight tinge of glam-punk thrown in there. They are from Chicago, which means their "Whoa-ohhs" are impeccable.

  3. We were going to end it yesterday, but because we are almost sold out, we figured that we'd keep it open a couple extra days to coincide with our 20% Off Sale. We're only going to print shirts once and our deal is that we would only sell 7"s with shirts. The plan is that these will be gone very soon and we won't have to worry about any leftover records because there won't be any.

  4. I wonder how much you could save if you didn't do labels. No screen printing, just no labels. Handwritten A and B maybe. For the DIY punk bands of course.

I did a release last year that didn't have labels. Most plants won't even do it, and it probably only shaved maybe $75-$100 off of the total cost of the release. I had to shop around a bit to find someone willing to tackle the project.

Not having labels on a record increases the chances of it warping, as the label serves as an extra stabilizing agent.

Knowing this risk, I insisted that my artist vision required it, signed the special waiver, and TA DA!

This is all very true. I've also seen instances where the center hole becomes too big when no label is used. It probably depends on the type of press that is being used but it is also something to consider. But hey, gotta take risks sometimes!

  5. PIRATES PRESS RECORDS has been releasing some pretty interesting looking vinyl in the past month. All the details (and some streaming audio) are at http://www.piratespressrecords.com but here are some of the pretty pictures...

  6. the "chunksaah" version was actually ordered as a custom gold color (i can't remember the pms# it was supposed to match) and for whatever reason, it seems like gold vinyl tends to have a greenish tint. anyway...i'm really surprised no one has made a note yet about how some versions are 33rpm and some are 45rpm. c'mon nerds, let's fight about which version sounds better! (the odds of me actually listening to either are slim to none so i am relying on you all to duke it out)
