  1. It's possible that this is the documentary my dad used to tell me about. Said he saw it when it was released and it was sort of painful to watch as it was clear they hated each other (mainly Lennon/McCartney). There's rehearsal footage and live performances including the rooftop show. That about all I know.

I've never seen it myself, so I'm not sure if this is it or something different.

  2. Oh man, you cannot possibly say he's overrated. Selfish sometimes yes but no way is he overrated. He's got a record of over a goal every two games at 21... that's ridiculous! He can play wide or behind a main striker, i'd expect him to start on the left with Pedro on the right and Messi down the middle. The only problem i can see at Barca is him having to adjust to not having all the play go through or end up with him as it was at Santos and he may not score as many goals. His deal was pretty big - don't forget he's unproven in the european leagues - i think Barca paid santos about 25m? but there was personal fees on top with actually takes to over 60m not including wages. I expect Barca to be far stronger with him. They definitely won't struggle if they rest Messi now.

As I said, I haven't seen him play enough to call him overrated. I honestly haven't been that impressed in the games I've seen him play with Brazil. If I hadn't known to watch for him, I wouldn't have picked him out as exceptional. That said, there are moments and of course the youtube videos that showcase some incredible ability. I'm excited to see him play more often though.

  3. Woooooo Neymar has a 5 year deal with Barca

He has some incredible skill but every time I see him with Brazil I don't get what all the hype is about, or how he fits into a team. I haven't seen a ton of games so I won't call him overrated. He could develop into something special and he was cheaper than I expected with all the talk about him. I don't know enough about him, do you think he'll fit in at barcelona?

  4. I feel weird him going. More happy than sad for sure, i don't think there are any managers in the world capable of motivating a team like this year's to win the league like they just have. If Mourinho arrives they'll become a hollywood team like Madrid, which would suck.

I wonder if Moyes will be able to get united to perform (aka win) as consistently as they did this year. Their team isn't crap, but the midfield is pretty weak to win the league.

  5. It's so rough but they've already said lewandowski will stay with them as long as they can, even if he has to leave in free transfer (tho I'd sell him).

Hope they can bounce back if they have to rebuild and klopp sticks around bc he's a great fit.

If last week someone told me that both Spanish clubs would each get four goals scored on them this round, I'd slap em and call then an idiot.

I don't really understand why anyone would want to leave Dortmund at the moment. How many clubs in the world are significantly better than them? Not many. I hope they stay significant for a while. Love how they play.

Oh, and Suarez decided not to appeal the 10 game ban. Wonder if Liverpool will move him this summer.

  6. Dortmund are the perfect club. They're superb in the way they play and how they treat the fans. It's a proper football experience.

And on a positive note, Bayern have won 21 of their last 22 games, pretty impressive. But they couldn't beat the Arsenal ;)

They're a great team to watch, but selling Gotze (release clause so not much they can do about it), and possibly letting Lewandowski and Hummels leave is a bit worrying.

  7. After a fairly boring bunch of games yesterday (watched the Everton and Arsenal games), today was sure crazy. City looked so comfortable and then just lost it. Why didn't Aguero play? Escapes a ban for the two footed stomp and sits the game out anyway. Odd. Then Suarez. haha, what the fuck. His goal could have a huge impact on the top 4. Looks like Arsenal should be in. Chelsea sure have been getting some bad decisions this week.
And Bayern tore another team apart. Dortmund looked good too. So excited for the Champions League games, I don't even care that I have three midterms.

  8. I really thought more obnoxious vinyl collecting hipsters would be into soccer.

haha. Champions League should be good. Was hoping, like most people I think, that Barcelona would play Dortmund. I'm fine this way though. Interested in how Bayern will approach Barca. Sitting back and absorbing pressure seems effective for a lot of teams, but Bayern have the players to really go at Barca's defense. Thought PSG was surprisingly attacking in that second leg.

  9. Somewhat surprised to see Alves and Marcelo. Think Ashley Cole, Philip Lahm, and maybe some on smaller clubs, deserve a spot more. Thought maybe Mats Hummels would get some credit, since he was the center of a double winning Dortmund side. And Pirlo on an unbeaten Juventus and carrying Italy to the finals. Yaya Toure And Ribery and Van Persie have been in ridiculous form this past year. Not really a big deal though. Good players.

  10. I'm not sure how that argument made sense inside your head, but I'll play along. I would certainly refer to baseball as "volleyball" if the following were true.

    A. The sport was not one of the major sports in America, but was the most popular sport in much of the rest of the world. Which meant I had to watch foreign leagues to see the sport played at a high level.

    B. The majority of the world called it "volleyball" and only America called it something else.

    C. The team I followed had "volleyball" in the name. For example, Dodgers Volleyball Club.

If those three things were true, like they are for football/soccer (which is what I alluded to in my initial response), then I would probably call the sport volleyball.

As I said, if there was a chance the two "football" sports would be confused, I'd make it clear. I don't have a problem calling football "soccer" and American football "football" when the situation calls for it. The names don't make a difference. It's just what I'm used to calling it and I see no need to change what I'm normally do when there is no chance of confusion to appease a few people (or just you).

  11. Almost everything I read/watch that has to do with the sport refers to it as football (even espn soccernet changed to espn FC). So it's football to me. If this were a NFL/EPL fantasy league thread, I'd be more clear. If people confuse the two in the EPL threads, fuck 'em.
