Damn - I love from the cradle, not all that interested in the others.

Fun facts:
1. After the commercial failure of Falling Into Infinity, their record label gave the band free rein over their new album's direction, which led the band to finally finish the story begun with "Metropolis, Pt. 1" from Images and Words.
2. The album's recording was kept secret, to keep fans from meddling with the band's recording, and to surprise them. Fans had previously requested the band to make the sequel to the first part, but they had not yet been able (nor had they originally intended one to be made).

Well at least you all finally cut to the chase...just wish you'd do it in another thread. Whether anyone likes it or not, this guy is putting something out that people have wanted for a long, long time and are rather excited about.

the album is fucking great! you can tell Maynard is craving some Tool, so its more Tool then most Pusifer. i'll be picking this up
Hmm, if this is the case I might have to check this out. I've largely ignored this side project.

Awesome. I got it, and the copy of AM is unplayable. I hope popmarket is cool about making things right.
My albums are still in the shrink, keep us posted if you don't mind!

I don't see anything wrong with Jailhouse or Akex H expressing their opinions of the band and/or label this thread is based on. The world isn't all roses and blow jobs and we aren't here to kiss each other's asses. If you don't like what they have yo say, ignore it, move on, pre-order your Dream Theater record, and "enjoy" it.
Great point, just directed at the wrong audience. The burden of "ignore it, move on, etc." lies solely on jackasses making the decision to stir up shit in a thread they care nothing about. We've all been around the Internet long enough to know the difference between a dissenting opinion and outright flaming.
I vote the douchebaggery and the defense of the douchebaggery ends in this thread so we can reserve the space for discussion about the release of the album. If you don't like the album or band,
ignore it, move on,Life's too short...be nicer.

Oh, and yes, this album is fantastic!

I hope some of you are watching the PJ20 doc right now on PBS American Masters...on the east coast at least. It's pretty fuckin' awesome so far!
Watched this last night with the wife. It was awesome!

Nice troll. Ironic that it proves you have horrible tastes in a post where you claim your tastes are totally awesome. :
Wut
You ARE so hip and cool!
By the way, OP - the band's name is misspelled in your announcement post (Dream Theater is the correct spelling).

Anyone know if this comes with a digital download?

Pedro the Lion broke up 5 years ago, brah. But yeah, my tastes are totally awesome, thank you for noticing. I will stand by the fact that this music is terrible though, my co-worker puts on their greatest hits a few times a month and there are several points in the disc where I can't help but bust out laughing. It's unfocused garbage, technically impressive at the expense of being listenable, self-indulgent to the point of musical masturbation. I can just picture the band in the studio jacking off as they listen to the playback. I don't want it, and I won't buy it, but luckily for me those aren't qualifications necessary to post in this thread .

Dumb question: any way to tell which color is which with them still in the shrink? I want to keep the smoke and ditch the orange and purple (and would rather keep them sealed). UPCs are the same and there don't appear to be distinguishing markings on the cover anywhere.
Thanks!

so, 3 albums and a 7" for $75? great deal.
Its actually just 2 of the greatest full length albums ever made and a 7", but there's 4 12"s in there!
I can't wait to see what Toby comes up with for the poster. Also, he's making brand new art for the 7" package too.
FTFY.

Well, there goes more money.

Count me in...been waiting a long time for this!

Welcome! If you're trying to spend less money on records, don't login here very often. You can post something in the Buy/Sell/Trade Forum you're looking for and will usually have a response in short order. New deals are posted frequently in this forum.
I've a lot less disposable income (negative, sometimes) thanks to this place.

I saved about $43 on my eye prescription today so I decided to allocate that savings to snagging your last copy of Lullabies on red. I feel pretty good about it. I hope you pack records well, Mr. Morfiend.
Bought several from him with absolutely no issues, FWIW.

Right now, Insurgentes because I'm in love with SW's new one.

and I cheer on the Oregon Ducks just because.
You could have at least used the cool Johnny Cash flip off.

I'm a FCS guy here...went to a no-name school in Boone, NC school called Appalachian State (well, Michigan fans might still remember the name, but not many others). We've been doing pretty well down here since then...at least a share of all conference championships, but haven't won a national championship since the Michigan year. We have the talent to make some noise in the playoffs again this year, but going all the way is doubtful unless we find some mountain mojo as the season progresses.
I love both FCS and BCS football...when I'm not pulling for ASU (Appalachian St.) I'm basking in the local glory of ACC and SEC football - amazing games every week - and I cheer on the Oregon Ducks just because.

Agreed. I loved the album when it came out and still do. Sure it is commercial compared to the rest of their catalog, but the songs were great. Sometimes more focused, to the point songs are a good change for a progressive outfit.
