i have a feeling the seller was in the band, or close to someone that was

you can't judge value of something like a record. it all depends on the person wanting to buy the record from you.
-
ive gotten some that look like they were bent on purpose
how can you tell if a bend if on pupose or not?

I agree that someone hating GZ for making splatter records is silly. They only make what the label requests.
However, I have yet hear a reasonable explanation on the sand issue. GZ isn't the only plant that has ever made splatter vinyl, but theirs is the only plant I've ever found sand on the vinyl. I also don't believe that it's not harmful. If dust, which has less texture can degrade audio fidelity and wear on a stylus, surely a gritty sand like substance would be worse.
If I remember correctly, it's not sand but product used in the process of making records with "Haze". They use powder instead of the standard vinyl pellets. I didn't know this happened on splatter as well though...
oh, maybe you're right. splatter, haze, and marble all looks about the same to me so i get which one is what mixed up.
but yeah, the particles are there because the vinyl gets sprayed with a powder to get the effect. i've been told it is harmless and can just be wiped off like you would any other record that has dust on it

if people are really hating on a pressing plant for producing splatter colored records, isn't that hate a little misguided?
and the sand on splatter records is a natural, unharmful, unavoidable byproduct of the process to make the splatter coloring

that doesn't make him incredible, that makes him normal.
not really. the guy ate $40 on the item. most ebay sellers wouldn't do that. i doubt anyone trying to make a profit on anything would.
whether or not homeboy had to pay $40 of his own money to ship a record is irrelevant. he listed the auction for $15 for shipping, he should uphold that, which is what any normal person would do. maybe most people who sell things on ebay aren't normal?
if i ever won an auction and the seller asked me to pay them more for shipping than what they listed, i would tell them to eat a dick.

I recently bought the Bright Eyes box set + 2 lps on ebay from a guy in Australia. He was asking for 15$ shipping for "Rest of the World". So i win the auction, and then he emailed me saying the shipping will cost him 55$. I said fine, I understand you made a mistake, i'm not paying that kind of money but we can cancel the sale if you want and I won't put negative feedback.
The guy answer me saying he already shipped the package, saying it was his mistake and he took full responsability.
Incredible Ebay seller!
that doesn't make him incredible, that makes him normal.

dhl has always been a nightmare when they've tried to deliver a package to me. i think every time i've had to go down to the hub and pick the package up myself.

the pressing info which i know from matt at b9 is
100 clear, 400 yellow, and 3000 blue and 1000 white for second press.
and i'm looking for the yellow for complete....
there's not that many blue. i can't remember the original pressing information, but at first there was supposed to be x amount of blue, and y amount of blue/white. when they got the records, all of the x and y looked the same, so they sent back 1000 of them and now there's only one color, whether you want to call it blue or blue/white.
-
this thread made me wander to the bcd site and order a joanna newsom poster. good deal.
-
the pressing got all screwed up. i can't find a number that a lot of people agree on for the yellow. from what i can tell the blue is out of 1400. some people even still think that there's a blue and a blue/white version.
-
this record rules. glad to see it on vinyl finally.
-
i gotta remember to buy this
-
stickfigure would be your best bet, but since you're going on a sunday that won't work. todd at low yo yo probably has every record you could ever want, you just have to give him a heads up so he can bring it from his house.

saw gentleman jesse and his men last friday at a house show. pretty good.

this guy on another board i post on said he recently came home to his mailman shoving his boxes of records into the bank of snow next to his mailbox.
-
post that shit scott!

Jesus Christ.
$75 for shipping?
$12 for using a credit card?
That's ridiculous.
yeah, especially because canada and the states are right beside each other. i can't believe there's such a huge difference in the shipping rates between the two countries.
there's a lot more to international shipping than just distance, such as customs.

+1 for the heads-up, thanks!

i like that they reprinted all these shirts. will be buying a truckload.

It makes it sound like they're not too keen on U.S. peeps buying it from Conspiracy.
that is a little weird. i wonder why they would openly say they would prefer US customers to not buy it from them.
