  1. Yeah, I've had my turntable for a few years and I found a couple of them laying around. Wasn't sure if it was something important that needed/should be placed on my turntable. But clearly my ignorance will upset the elitist, turntable nerds. I'm just stoked for my new set up and wanted to make sure it was alright.
  2. What is the purpose of the small round piece with the hole in the middle?
  3. either I might order one from phonopreamps.com, or head down to guitar center and see if they have any. bump
  4. I'm not too sure how much I should spend on one. Are there any below $100 that are decent? I've always hooked my turntable up to a stereo receiver, so I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to preamps and their different features.
  5. The stereo receiver I used took a shit, so I figured I should just buy a preamp for my turntable. What kind do use? Providing a link, if you can, would be necessary in this thread.
  6. I opened it up and took a look at it. Everything was connected fine, and there were no problems as far as I could tell. I cleaned it out a bit then put it back together. It's still not working. I'm not sure where I can take it to, but there has to be somewhere around here that deals with this shit. I might end up having to take it back, I still have 6 days.
  7. This message has been moved to Everything Else Message Board by Ben.
  8. Also, when I plug in headphones, I only got sound through one earphone too. This thing is so bad ass, I really would rather fix it than take it back.
  9. I bought this vintage Zenith MC 6170 stereo receiver with phono input at the goodwill today for a cheap price. There's something wrong with the right speaker connection because I can't get any sound through that side. I've switched around the speakers and everything so I know it's not the speakers giving me problems. When I plug the speaker into the right connection, it gives out a little crackle, which signifies that power is going to that side, right? Anyway, I'm planning on taking it apart soon to look at it, but does anyone know what the problem might be, and if it is fixable?
  10. What brand of stylus and cartridge do you use, and how much of a different does it make compared to a simple Shure needle/cartridge? I'd like to maybe get a better sound out of my turntable and I think if I tried out another needle and cartridge I might just get that.
  11. Ouch! Props given for appriciation of the wrong Train Wreck! The album pictured in Riddle's avitar is Boys Night Out's album "Train Wreck", which, by the way, IS "fucking amazing". I kind of realized this after I lurked his myspace. It's all good though, both bands are tight!
  12. I think if you're DJing, it would be better to not use a rubber one. I may be wrong, but that's what I have read. Also, is it safe to use a slipmat if it appears to be warped and is not playing the records flat?
  13. you my friend get your first +1 Didn't they do a split with Comadre? I went to one of their shows last year and I was blown away by Trainwreck. I had never heard them before that show. I love the Like Weeds cover they do. Damn I need to find that cd!
  14. Trainwreck is fucking amazing. That's all I can say to this post.
  15. Usually I take the slipmat off the turntable when I play my records, but are you supposed to leave it on and play the records on top of that? I'm a noob, lol @ me :-*
